1st, 2nd, 3rd World is not a financial designation. It's political.

1st World is NATO countries

2nd World is Warsaw Pact (now defunct USSR)

3rd World is everyone unaffiliated. Mostly shit holes with no tech, but there are a couple modern countries. Switzerland is a third world country.
