That was a great movie. So simple yet so immersive.

Now they have 200 million dollar movies that are not only bad but instantly forgotten.

"In town you're the law, out here it's me."

Brian Denehey,Sheriff is the classic/standard vindictive asswipe cop.

Simple maybe, but we have to give credit to every actor in that film. First rate each and every one.

If academy awards meant anything, best sound, best actor, best supporting actor, best director, …., and on and on, best

It’s difficult to think of Stallone as a serious actor because he’s such a cheese ball…, but he in that film, exceptional .

It's true, fuck he's good in this movie. It was rad seeing this first time as a kid.

Yes and also everybody forgets to ask where the money went.

Also where it came from aka how BlackRock can print so much for ESG shit.

Another Sylvester Stallone low budget movie that made it huge because it was so well done. And also because the timing of the story fit the political dialogue of the time just perfectly. The plight of the Vietnam veteran was very much in the public zeitgeist.

His other hit Rocky was a hit partially because at that time there was a huge desire in the country's zeitgeist for a white heavyweight champion. This is been largely forgotten now but the movie gave people the white heavyweight champion if they longed for after many years of Muhammad Ali fighting nothing but big black opponents.

No niggers or faggots, back when filmmakers understood the ticket-buying demographic and catered to them.

[ - ] Deplorablepoetry 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 27, 2023 19:06:35 ago (+1/-0)

No faggots? No faggots?

The whole plot is one dude against a platoon of faggots!!!

You do know what a faggot is right?……., oh wait, you meant homosexual faggots not wearing a badge…., ya none of them, thankfully

The book is great too!

Movie is entirely underrated.

I like to watch First Blood at least once a year.

Top 10 all time in my mind

Why you pushing me?

[ - ] NoRefunds 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 27, 2023 18:18:28 ago (+1/-0)

I really wish they made the movie like the book, it was so much more badass.

[ - ] chrimony 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 28, 2023 08:40:18 ago (+0/-0)

Devil's Advocate: The sheriff was just trying to protect his town. He gave Rambo a lift. Rambo could have just moved on, but he wanted to push things. Just look at "progressive" cities like San Francisco, riddled with homeless people, addicts, and crime.

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 28, 2023 18:57:03 ago (+0/-0)

Fair enough, but it's fucked up to forcibly shave a grown man. That's degrading as fuck and completely unnecessary.

[ - ] chrimony 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 28, 2023 19:09:11 ago (+0/-0)

That was only after Rambo insisted on making himself a nuisance. And from the sheriff's point of view, he was being dick, but he was asserting his authority, taking a stinky bum, washing him off, and giving him a clean shave. There are certainly worse cases of police brutality. Was it worth blowing up the town?

In my top five.
