They should demand those responsible for their unlawful arrest and detention be tried for kidnapping.
Go after the cops qualified immunity and sue them personally

People that got arrested for that should never settle out of court. Sue those worthless motherfuckers for deprivation of rights under color of law. That's the only thing with teeth that we have against those communist bastards.
