It’s not so much how much muscle you have as it is how you carry yourself down the street. Head down, buried in a phone or just not looking around points a big victim arrow at you. Walk like you are aware, head on a swivel, looking at everything going on around you. You will less likely be targeted if you look like you’re going to be trouble and put up a fight. Ambush tactics are the primary method used by criminals, they want an easy hit.

This is good advice.

I never am on my phone unless it is important when walking everywhere. It's an old world nobody looks at anymore. You see so many people on their phones, phones at least in their hand, completely going everywhere.

Woman are the absolute worst about this. I literally see all women these days with a phone in their hand at all times. They're all so broken.

But I walk like you said and I've seen thugs or homeless stare at me and I stare back and they switch sidewalks or look down on their phone.

I gripped my knife because this one guy was definitely mean mugging me and he shoulder checked me and I got him back and just kept walking with my knife gripped as he kept moving along, also probably read the stance I was taking.

In the "five stages of violent crime", the first stage is where the criminal assesses you for potential victim status, then in stage two (if you looked likely) does the "interview". This is where they make some kind of approach (cigs? time? 'whatchu doin here?') to see if your reactions are victim tier, or too much trouble.

Ideally you don't want to look like an unaware victim in the first place, but if you get approached you want to fail the test to confirm you as a victim. Be aggressive, hostile, or crazy enough that the criminal moves on to the next target.

Just finished a book on the subject. This guy suggest sets where 4 - 8 reps without sacrificing form will bring you either to failure or just before failure. Take 2-3 minute rests between sets. He even suggests you’d be better off not lifting to failure as it will increase recovery time.

The author advised upping the weight once you start lifting more reps than the initial limit. This coming from a bodybuilder who looks like he knows what he’s talking about.

I haven't been lifting long but am already seeing results in a bulk cut. Best advice I can give to everyone on this forum is to just start. Take advice from people with the results you want. Audiobooks are easy to listen to while driving. Can spend all day searching youtube or just dish out a few bucks for a good book.

Never mind weight. Just lift and get yuge. Health, or in this case badassness, is a quality and not quantifiable by arbitrary standards like weight. Just lift and get yuge. Also learn to fight.

This is also good advice, only instead of saying "get yuge", I'd say "get strong".

Subtle difference perhaps and it can take years to really fill out.

Absolutely spot-on.

If you can bench press your body weight you'd be considered strong.

However to prevent being a victim habits like being aware of your surroundings are important.

Criminals have a routine, and if you interrupt it, that's often enough to stop it.

Situational awareness is a great habit to cultivate.

Reddit tier question. So you are asking for bodyweight recommendations but don't know how tall you are? If you are 5'6" the answer is different than if you are 6'3".

Is this your goal weight (for your body) or the weight you're trying to lift?

[ - ] anon 2161345 [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 30, 2023 11:26:46 ago (+0/-0)

Just trying to lift

[ - ] anon 2196918 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 30, 2023 01:01:03 ago (+0/-0)

4x15 side raises with 25 pounds per hand

4x15 overhead press with 55 pounds per hand

4x15 bicep curls with 45 pounds per hand

4x15 bent over rows with 90 pounds per hand

4x15 skull crushers with 45 pounds one dumbbell in two hands.

4x15 squats with 60 pound dumbbell per hand.

1 to 3 warm up sets with lower weight for each exercise.

raise weight and reps to this level so slowly that no muscle needs to recover for more than 5 days.
