The cottage, described by the council website as an “historic oddity’’, was once a regular destination for Melbourne schoolchildren but has dropped in popularity.

I remember going there on a school excursion. Doubt any school kid goes there now, not in present day Victoria.

Shame. Think of the absolute courage and tenacity, as well as testicular fortitude, that Cpt. Cook embodied. That kind of history should be remembered and emulated.

Also, James is a strong name. Just saying.

In Tennessee there is the Museum of Appalachia. It used to be a big draw for a lot of school trips. It is a fantastic way for children to learn about their history and how their ancestors lived.

Much like your cottage, I don't think very many schools take trips there now. They don't dare allow children to learn about real history in the indoctrination centers that are called "schools" today!
