He got f'd by Jim Carrey. Broderick was cast as the main star of the Cable Guy, and was later downgraded to just the b-side guy who Jim Carey stalks.

Cable Guy was a terrible movie but huge star, Jim Carey, brought people to see it, in spite him being a terrible actor at the time. (His later movies he proved much better.)

Would have been such a better movie if the roles were reversed, as originally envisioned, with Broderick as the lead.

Then again, it would not have made so much money at box-office.

Ferris Bueller did not win any awards that year. That year the best comedy went to Paul Hogan's Crocodile Dundee. A good movie, but certainly not the classic that Ferris Bueller was.

He's whining that he wasn't in very many movies. He was very active on the stage and made a good living there.
