There's two sides to every coin, and two sides to every argument.

The comparable side to this one is that he basically had a terminal illness (he had a disastrous lot in life) and chose to go out in a way that left others to recognize his memory.

I agree with you, too, regarding supporting suicide and mental illness. He should have never gone to such extreme lengths, and even he recognized he was committing a massive wrongdoing.

The problem with seeing both sides is that it leaves you with the ability to say, what would you do in that shitty fucked up situation? Yes, we shouldn't support crime and suicide, but there's always going to be those who see these actions as inglorious when taken into account that he was up against the wall, again, by his own doing.

I suppose my point here is that the best conversation to have starts with examining all fronts.

Suicide isn't a way out. It's a completely new transference to a much more difficult situation. The reason that God forbade suicide was because He didn't want to give humans the ability to maintain life or death. God gives life and takes it away.
