I want to say 'Frailty' is a good movie, but that's harder to do nowadays. I remember seeing it when I was in the sixth grade or so. Stories about people mentally unraveling are always compelling, and Paxton is great. It also had the intrigue of being a detective work frame story with one hell of a twist.
That said, today I realize the movie was a very in-your-face anti-Christian polemic, painting a single, working-class father as a 'fundie' psycho who traumatizes his children. It was a not subtle metaphor for religious indoctrination and the suffering it causes innocent people and those who try to escape the Christian cult.
That might be a little melodramatic, but I remember how it made me feel about religion when I was young. It took me a long time to break out of that brainwashing. They could release this film mostly as-is today, and it would have the same cultural relevance. The only differences with today's reboot would be that the victims were all black and/or Jewish, and the title would be 'Fragility'.

While personally have not used said equipment to measure microbes I have seen plenty of pictures and videos taken by other people, so many that I trust it is more likely that microbes do exist. Your response is in line with others I've heard, which proves more that it's not real: If the only way someone can measure it is to perceive it with their mind through their own senses, i.e. only a biological being counts as the "equipment", then you can't be sure that it actually exists. The moment you say something like "well first you have to take this drug" or "first you have to recite this enchantment over and over until your in the right frame of mind" then you've introduced so much error into the measurement that you can't tell if the thing you're perceiving is the drug, a mental emotion, or the actual soul/spirit.
