It's Friday night and my ISP sucks. So, it's close enough! I'm going to start the thread a little early, 'cause I know I'm connected! So, come rock out with your online buddies and share some music you made!

submitted by TheRealBuddha to Guitar 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 19:41:02 ago (+20/-3)     (Guitar)

Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, click this link. That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Talk.lol go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, ask a regular participant (such as @Sleazy or myself)

If you already know what's going on, you probably don't need to click any of those links. You can still visit to see if any changes have been made, as that's also where we kept the archives and have a second forum.

By the way, we're down to just two of us. If you want to help, let us know.

I just got home. The other day Chris came by and we jammed out for a while, he had to check out the new to me, half stack speaker cabinet a friend gave to me not too long ago. I had a 1959 ten watt tube amp head sitting on a shelf doing nothing so that was perfect.

Now you can hear how it sounds a little bit, as Chris found these lyrics on the music stand written in female handwriting and we made a song to sing them to. walking around

[ - ] popticalillusion 4 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:10:46 ago (+4/-0)

The song is on the somber side, but has a nice start and build.Great work! I can't judge much about an amp from 1 recording. I do love tubes and use them in combo with a solid state amp almost all the time. Since I'm not playing live I just have an amp with a 10 Inch speaker and the other with a great quality 12 Inch speaker. Try gear out and do a litlle research and you'll find the sound you like.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:22:23 ago (+3/-0)

I am just happy to have a 4x12 cab for free! Cant beat that!

[ - ] popticalillusion 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:30:26 ago (+3/-0)

Free is always a great price! I'm sure you can make use of it! I used one for outdoor gigs, but indoors my single speaker amp was plenty loud! LOL

[ - ] Sleazy 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 19, 2023 00:01:28 ago (+1/-0)

I plugged my PA head into it and it was too loud! way too loud

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:24:07 ago (+2/-0)

Thanks, I was just trying to play along with what he was doing!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 20:32:26 ago (+3/-0)

Hmm... I don't think I like the amp much, but it was definitely different.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 20:49:54 ago (+3/-0)

Well there were two amps playing, Chris was on the little Marshall half stack while I was on the 4x12. I was playing the high notes. I thought the tone was nice

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 4 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 20:53:22 ago (+4/-0)

It sounds tinny and thin to my ears. That could probably be changed with a pedal or two. Maybe a touch of reverb, a tiny bit of chorus, and a compressor. Yeah, definitely a compressor.

[ - ] Sleazy 4 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 20:54:52 ago (+4/-0)

Yeah it sounds a whole lot different if I run through a pedal. I just played it clean so you all could kind of hear how that 1959 amp sounds clean

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:00:37 ago (+3/-0)

I think you're right about it being a PA amp.

You know... It might actually be worth looking into some slightly different tubes, something to make it run a bit 'hotter'. It might not take much to turn it into a solid guitar amp. It does have a bit of a tone that's unusual. It just sounds thin and tin-y to my earballs.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:01:26 ago (+3/-0)

It is kind of 50's sounding, there is doubt about that.

But If I hook the distortion to it, its nothing like that

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:02:52 ago (+3/-0)

Yeah, I suspect just a few pedals would make a hell of a difference. It does kinda have a bit of a 50s tone to it, but I already voiced my thoughts on the matter.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:06:11 ago (+3/-0)

I have a Zoom multi effect pedal that sounds great through it. Its customizable too. I been playing with the controls trying to make some great sounds, they just were not suitable for playing along with Chris

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:07:41 ago (+3/-0)

That does sound like fun. LOL Make Chris play more suitably for you!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 5 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 19:41:22 ago (+5/-0)

Hello and welcome to another Friday Night Guitar thread. Like normal, we'll go ahead and get you started.

This week, we have something new. Imagine that! It's not a song all of you will know - but you should know it. It's a great song!

Buckcherry - Crazy Bitch (B #1 & B; TB # 2 & P).mp3

If you're unfamiliar with the song, look up the original on YouTube. Also, you should hear Biff sing this song. It cracks me up, but she belts it out and actually does a good job at it. No, she was unwilling to record a vocal track to add into the mix. I asked...

Rock on, Goats! Rock on!

[ - ] Sleazy 5 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 20:56:24 ago (+5/-0)

Hell yes I know this song! I just sang it to my woman here!

You fucking nailed the sounds and the feel and the everything. Both you and Biff need to take a bow!!!\

woo hoo!!!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:01:31 ago (+3/-0)

LOL I tried to get Biff to record the vocal track but she was having none of it.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:02:12 ago (+3/-0)

Why the hell not?

Can she sing?

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:03:27 ago (+3/-0)

She's not terrible. In fact, she's better than many.

You've probably heard her sing once before.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:25:47 ago (+3/-0)

I don't remember hearing her sing, maybe once, some halestorm song I think

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 4 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:28:50 ago (+4/-0)

You might have not heard it. She covered Zombie (Cranberries) and I have a recording of that. I've shared it but it might only have been with COF 'cause it just never came up between you and I. She belted it out and did a pretty great job.

I'll look for the recording at some point - and get permission to share it.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:29:47 ago (+3/-0)

I do believe now that you mention it that I faintly remember that.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:31:01 ago (+3/-0)

I am not seeing uploaded at share.fngt.gq anywhere.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:31:55 ago (+3/-0)

You may have shared it with me privately

[ - ] popticalillusion 4 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:24:24 ago (+4/-0)

The sound is amazing that you all get. I thought I had heard a different version of this one before that wasn't as polished?? Great playing too! I like the song lyrics and think the song would be great in a club. I'd cover it for that and for fun too. LOL

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 4 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:27:14 ago (+4/-0)

This would be the first time we've covered this song. I'm not sure if someone else has done it.

And, damned right, it's an amusing song. It's definitely something we'd cover in a bar.

[ - ] TheViciousMrPim 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 20:58:33 ago (+1/-1)

There are zero reasons anyone anywhere should know a BuckCherry song. It's terrible trash with no interesting features. It's garbage. If you pretend otherwise you're a trashy asshole. And I don't care how many notes you tossed around. It's trash.

Oh yeah, this is a Friday guitar thread. It's filled w trash.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 20:59:53 ago (+3/-0)

Its a fun song. What the hell is wrong with you?

[ - ] TheViciousMrPim 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:03:27 ago (+3/-0)

Taste. I have taste. I dislike trash parading as art. It's trash. The thing you should be against being here. There are ZERO redeeming values to that song. It's trash. There is nothing about that song which is good.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:07:06 ago (+3/-0)

Women like to shake their ass to that song and I like to behold that sight

[ - ] TheViciousMrPim 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:10:20 ago (+3/-0)

Quality honesty at least. Trashy sluts like shitty music.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:24:33 ago (+3/-0)

Pretty women are nice to look at

[ - ] TheViciousMrPim 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:31:40 ago (+3/-0)

So are sunsets. TBH, serious drugs and a sunset are way better than women.

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:33:13 ago (+2/-0)

I do also love to watch the sunset. I used to live in a house on a beach that the sun set over the water, I was out there watching every night

[ - ] popticalillusion 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:34:37 ago (+3/-0)

You know when you can get them to flash some boobs to the band, it's always a plus. Well, my female drummer didn't like it as well as us guys up front did, but it was a great gesture!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:01:56 ago (+2/-0)

Do you want some tissues for those tears?

[ - ] TheViciousMrPim -2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:06:28 ago (+0/-2)

I don't see any tears.

You're a terrible musician and only a mediocre guitarist.and you have terrible taste in music.

Why are you here?

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:24:22 ago (+3/-0)

Some dumbass thinks this is an advertisement.

Amusingly, I don't sell anything and I give money away to people online. It's not even a loan, it's just a gift. Boy, I'm lining my pockets from a bunch of broke-ass people who buy the things I don't sell!

The level of stupidity on this site is amusing. The outrage of the belligerently wrong just cracks me up. They're so confident in their wild conspiracy theories that they'll believe pretty much anything except reality.

I'm kinda shocked that they're able to use a computer. I picture their homes and life and I legit feel sorry for many of them. I imagine their monitor is spittle-flecked. Their keyboard is stained from unwashed hands. Trash builds up in the corner as they gotta pay attention to the latest news so that they can misinterpret it and feel smart.

There's some pretty interesting psychology behind the conspiracy theorists. I am sure we've discussed that at length.

Speaking of which, how's your beer budget tonight? You gonna be around or busy?

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:08:51 ago (+2/-0)

Buddy, I know better. I've played for hundreds of thousands of people in my life and have been on more recordings than the number of times you've been laid.

If you can do better, put up or shut up. Frankly, you're not even qualified to opine until you can show me that you can do better.

Until then, you're dismissed.

[ - ] TheViciousMrPim 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:13:33 ago (+0/-0)

McDonalds has sold millions. You're literally McDonalds. You play trash for trash people.

And, so why are you here? I mean this new Voat? You didn't like us before and hung out at Poal because you were super cool. Wait, you have your own website. Why aren't you there?

Because this is an advertisment.

You're a terrible person.

[ - ] TheViciousMrPim 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:19:00 ago (+0/-0)

There is no one in your thread except Me, You and Sleazy. Because no one cares. The music you post is poorly done trash only drunken tards like.

No one is posting more music.

No one is commenting "Awesome Song". Because it's boring covers and never ever a unique original.

Please shut the fuck up you braggart piece of trash retarded uneducated piece of shit. Good Lord you're a moron

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:54:45 ago (+2/-0)

I post unique originals all the damned time

[ - ] TheViciousMrPim 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 22:04:21 ago (+2/-0)

I'll take it back. I concede that you do in fact make original music. My statement was wrong.

I've said things I'm not happy with. And I suppose I should apologize. And,I love everybody here.

[ - ] Sleazy 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 22:09:37 ago (+1/-0)

I do believe that you have what they call manic depression

[ - ] Sleazy 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 19, 2023 01:37:00 ago (+0/-0)

Here is an original composition by me

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:38:42 ago (+1/-0)

Why are you so nasty?

[ - ] TheViciousMrPim 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:44:45 ago (+0/-0)

I'm not.

If you go through my comments, as a whole I don't think you would say that.

The fNGt is terrible. It's only purpose is the Buddhas ego. The Buddha is a shitty person. And he makes terrible music.

[ - ] ChatGPT 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 23:03:48 ago (+0/-0)

uppity Swifty here.
Yeah man, Taylor Swift is so much better.

[ - ] Sleazy 4 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:26:57 ago (+4/-0)

Oh yeah, the last time I visited Verle one of his freinds had a guitar and we played, throw the jew down the well!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:31:48 ago (+2/-0)

You shared that with us last week, I'm pretty sure.

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:32:19 ago (+2/-0)

Two weeks ago, but that was Chris and I playing it. This one is Verle and I!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:34:19 ago (+2/-0)

Ah, okay. LOL

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:51:42 ago (+3/-0)

Somebody had requested to hear Verle singing it, so while I was there and there was a guitar! We did it!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 22:06:49 ago (+2/-0)

Well, at least you finally got to meet his girlfriend.

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 22:11:51 ago (+2/-0)

Yeah, if he still with her I dont know though

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 22:20:30 ago (+2/-0)

If she left, then at least he was happy for a while.

Which was nice, surely.

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 22:39:32 ago (+2/-0)

yeah he was surely happy for a while

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 22:51:03 ago (+2/-0)

I think that's a good thing. If she's still there, all the better. She's not on the street turning tricks for hotel money and he's got someone to talk to, someone to care for, and someone to give him some sexual gratification.

That's pretty much a win-win situation in my opinion.

[ - ] popticalillusion 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:45:33 ago (+2/-0)

I think I liked the first one better, but it's still a fun song and is still good when Verle brings his unique singing to it. I'd drink to that!

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 21:51:06 ago (+2/-0)

Chris does sing better than me, and he looks up the lyrics too! LoL

[ - ] popticalillusion 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 22:10:04 ago (+3/-0)

I'm still in a temporary housing situation, but as soon as I get settled I'll have to dig in the Rock-N-Roll trash pile for something to record. LOL It's kind of fun playing the acoustic guitars around here and I can get some practice in. I could do another remix with the vocals added, but I'm more in the mood for something new to me.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 22:21:58 ago (+3/-0)

I hope you have plenty of room in your next house for all the associated gear that goes with playing guitar.

Any idea when you'll be in your next home?

[ - ] popticalillusion 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 19, 2023 22:36:25 ago (+1/-0)

Most of my gear I have is small in size, since I got what I need to just play at home and record. I only have 1 electric guitar and the acoustic. Even my pedal board is a bit small, being custom built by myself. I can still get loud enough for full band practice, but I doubt I will take that direction.

It's estimated that I can be resettled within a few months, maybe even coming back to the apartment I am in right now. Both options are good for music production. I'll archive this weeks' FNGT post and then probably be late with a few before catching them back up again.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 20, 2023 08:30:20 ago (+1/-0)

I find many musicians accumulate a lot of gear over time. Myself? I have more gear than I'll ever need. I have all the toys, in duplicate!

Hopefully you'll get settled in soon and thanks for archiving. It's appreciated.

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 22:11:28 ago (+2/-0)

Nothing wrong at all with jamming on an acoustic guitar!

That sounded alright! Was that you?

[ - ] webofslime 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 19, 2023 10:07:03 ago (+2/-0)

Thanks. Yeah. My brother is getting older and is having all kinds of feelings about his legacy and wants to make an "Outlaw" country album, so I started trying to find "my sound" for it.

I just plugged in the hummingbird straight into the Hendrix set up with marshall and phaser and turned it down until I didn't get any feedback. Other than that, it's more tracks than you'd think at a first listen through the looper... 6 guitar tracks and a bass. What sounds like 1 fingerpicking guitar is actually 3 woven together because... well... it's hectic to try to do all at once.

The phaser at different depths and intensities sometimes build to almost sound like a fiddle or harmonica in the background.

California Coi Fish

http://sndup.net/rkj5

Short of writing the words for him and doing the vocals, I've just about got the album done. I used water themed titles as place holders, but I'll be curious to see what he comes up with.

Thanks for checking it out. Have a good week.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 19, 2023 13:00:58 ago (+1/-0)

An album sounds like a fun legacy. I've been on a bunch of albums over the years but really only started recording at home right around the time we started the guitar thread.

In hindsight, it'd have been nice to have some of my earliest recordings so I can compare and measure how far I've come. Good luck with the album! That can be either a great thing or a nightmare.

[ - ] popticalillusion 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 19, 2023 22:59:42 ago (+0/-0)

That's some good stuff, right there! Music has a way of touching many people in ways other art forms can't really achieve; so anything we musicians have already played has created a legacy in the memories of those who have enjoyed what we have produced. Expanding upon that is never a bad thing. :)

[ - ] popticalillusion 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 19, 2023 22:46:13 ago (+0/-0)

Beautiful work! I'm not sure the how you produced the sound is as important as your end product, but I am always curious about how the song was performed in the studio. Probably more so now that I am not thinking of playing live any longer.
