I know exactly what you mean. Reading that, I couldn't help but laugh because I could understand perfectly why they were fascinated by the stick. It's almost instinctual. I laughed because this is something women will never understand.

I have a collection of sticks on my porch. Whenever I go to the woods with my grandson, 7 , he brings one or two home.
I'm always on the lookout for a nice stick.
He wields them like shotguns , swords and machine guns. Multi purpose free toys.
We have a collection of stones from the river too.

I agree. I bet if this women had a daughter who picked a flower she wouldn't think twice about telling her kid how great it is qnd letting it come home.

I relate to my daughters in a way my husband can't. I can't wait for our son to be born so I can see him share that same instinctual connection with him.

I can recognise and be excited about a stick or rock my son brings me had worth to him but it's just not going to be the same.

Thanks. This place is what it is. I've been on and off visiting since old vote days but it's not what it used to be. Also, way too busy with the kids and hubby.

Nice. I’ve been thinking of ways to have a foot that’s not rubber. I like the idea of grounding with my walking stick. Just found a perfect one this summer.

Both my son and daughter do this. My son found a 20 pound rock that he liked while an hour into a hike and I told him if he likes it that much he will have to carry it back to the car himself. He took my challenge and goddammit that rock is the best rock ever, still hangs out on the front porch.
