I didn't realize there are like 1k people missing in Hawaii. Presumed dead.

I thought it was all garbage new hype, which it is. But I guess they were all gridlocked trying to drive out of the same town at the same time and the fire closed in on the lot of them. Who would have thought a fire would be so catastrophic, being that the whole place is a fucking volcano.

I guess they are all vegetarians anyhow so nothing of value was lost.

I had the unfortunate luck of being on vacation in Maui when the fires started. The wind was pretty strong overnight. The power went out in our resort around 4am and we went to get food on the other side of the island around 2pm. When we tried to return to our hotel around 5pm, police blocked the road.

The cops were useless motherfuckers. “Just following orders” idiots who had zero knowledge of anything. The negligence of those guys and fire department borders on criminal.

I got stuck on the highway waiting for the roadblock to open for 14 hours. I only saw a fire truck roll in at 12am. At this point 5pm-12am it took them 7 hours to get a couple fire trucks from one side of the island to the other. What the fuck?

I ended up ditching my rental car and walking 20 miles to my resort. It fucking sucked. But yea the whole town was obliterated. Cars burned, dead cats, dogs, birds. I didn’t go looking to see if there were dead people in the cars but I didn’t want to. There were entire apartment buildings burned all the way down like a bomb had gone off. I’m certain there’s at least 400+ people that died around there, the elderly or people that got stuck in traffic getting out. There were a lot of junkies around Maui too so they probably got burned.
