How Unions Have Betrayed America

https://amgreatness.com/2023/08/16/how-unions-have-betrayed-america/

Anyone suggesting there is no role for unions in America today might first consider a fact of history: more than a century ago, when oligarchs and the companies they owned had treated workers as if they were livestock, reduced to living in squalid pens with rationed food and water, it was unions that organized these workers to resist. It was unions who gave these workers back their humanity, and negotiated collective bargaining agreements and laws that eliminated child labor, enforced workplace safety, established an 8-hour work day, paid overtime, health benefits, and retirement pensions.

Unions today operate in a very different America. But how Big Labor has adapted calls into question their commitment to helping all American workers have a chance at a middle class lifestyle. In critical areas affecting everyone trying to thrive in 21st century America, unions have betrayed the American worker. In particular, their failure to challenge the globalist agenda of open borders and environmentalist extremism has inverted their priorities, putting them into alignment with the corporations and oligarchs they once so nobly opposed. This betrayal is most exemplified in the agenda of unions that didn’t exist a century ago, America’s powerful unions of government employees.

The oligarchs and the worthless slugs hate unions. Without unions Every Working American Would be making $5 an hour, exactly like China. I do not defend the union leaders for their 'political' crimes, But Working Union men Earn a better wage for themselves AND Force a better wage for everyone, by forcing non-union to pay better or lose good people to a union job.

The biggest bunch of shit is public sector unions.

I once asked a union boy why he felt the unions were so important. He smiled and launched into a speech about how corporations are only motivated by profit and so it was critical to have a union to protect the interests of the labor. I said "great, but what about public sector unions where there is no profit motive?" ... blank look in his eyes ... stammered something about "the workers" and wondered off.

Asking about public sector unions is a really nice litmus test for someone's intellectual honesty.

Public school unions are the worst. They neuter the principals and superintendent, making them powerless to act in meaningful ways. Leaving the two power structures being the union (who is pro $$ over all else) and the board (who is made of lay people.) No one in that power structure is educated on education. Leaving public schools being run by those who either don't understand or don't care about education.

Man, well done! I’m tired right now but I will say, an old friend of mine, public sector union, California departments of corrections, CCPOA member, loved his union. What a punk, I don’t talk to him anymore. He had all kinds of benefits. A thousand dollars a year for sunglasses. More for uniforms. Double and triple time pay. Highest payed babysitters ever. Dude works SHU at Folsom and makes 120k+ a year pushing a food cart to each cell and serving trays through door slots.

A lot of union leaders were paid off around 1990 and turned their unions into rat unions. Public sector unions, or government unions are parasites and political indoctrination that along with work place seminars have turned them into enemies of the people who earn the money that pays them; that still small business and capitalist employees.

Skilled trade unions are important for certification.

The media tries hard to brainwash people against unions. True there is some abuse, but it is small in comparison to abuse of the workers. A CEO getting 400% more than an average worker is abuse. Share the wealth. Unions are one of the very very few ways the average worker can have a voice in what goes on. My union lobbied in DC against the H1-B immigrant visa that lower the pay of American tech workers. Get involved in one!

The media tries hard to brainwash people against unions. True there is some abuse,

my dad is an electrician/ engineer. he used to work for a big factory here in miami in the 90's.

i will tell you that by his acct the union betrayed their own with the blessing of the ownership many times. they even cooperated with the ownership to bring a guy that destroyed the union so that the boss would sell his company without any hindrance.

oh yes those type of guys exists. my dad never trusted unions because he knew that they had a price and he was right when the union did little to stand up for the workers at that factory.

no, unions are not your friend, maybe they were some time ago. but nowadays they will sell you out for the right price

People are so lazy. It is not that hard to get involved in an union. Then you can get rid of the sellout union leaders. My union did exactly that! The union stewarts led a revolt and voted the sellout the fuck out. Its just like how our national leaders have gone so corrupt over time. No one gets involved! The people I know are so busy competing with their neighbors for the nicest house and polishing their cars. But do NOTHING for the common good. Join a union! Get involved!

Power corrupts. Probably need rotating leadership chosen at random for all positions of power. All meetings/decisions in front of members. Eternal vigilence is the price of actual representation.

The ZOG infiltrated scabs and criminals into the unions who were anything but committed to worker's rights, the same way they infiltrated assh*les into politics .. thus all manner of outrage not limited to rape and murder took place in the workplace while the union hierarchies stood by in the face of pleas from the ppl at the workface.

Nor will a single one of them touch JFK assassination truth, that proves LHO's innocence and inculpates Andy Warhol and the MLK's among others .. the same way every member of both houses in the entire ZOG controlled US Congress stand by in the face of proof Israel not Arabs attacked the US Sept. 11, 2001.

Unions are best for America. My union is based on merit, not seniority. Members can craft the union to be whatever they want. Drop your ZOG brainwashing. A single worker has no power at all. Embrace that fact!

Touchesgrass - Aren't you the special person. I get that you are advising every worker to just follow your example. Think that is possible?
How much influence do you have on government or lawmakers? Hmm? Or is that not important? Let the "other people" deal with that right?
What happens when new laws affect your business?
For example, I know a guy that was rich on his fishing business then the gov decided to close his kind of fishing. Just one example.

The lone worker often suffers from feelings of grandeur that are unfounded. So many people I meet say they will just quit if they are treated unfairly. Little do they know that the CEOs conspire to prevent that, very effectively. For example, Apple and Dell were found out to have an alliance that they would never hire each others people.

Many degrees and skill sets require working for a big company, like coding. I guess a landscaper can go hire his own Mexicans and start his own great business, huh, Touchesgrass? Others want to work on things more interesting.

Ah yes. What an extension monologue to tell us what a great person you are. Yes I have received a $10k check as a thank you. Yes my work has saved lives. I could go on and on like you did. But the most basic lacking in all of your boasting is what have you done to help other people WITHOUT GETTING PAID FOR IT.

As an unpaid union steward I have saved the careers of people that dared to speak up to their supervisors about their stupid mistakes and their illegal activities. They were people that cared, and wanted the world to be a little safer.

I'm glad you are on a high hill financially. I don't need to hear anymore about that.

You never answered my question about whether your answer, was the answer for most people. This key isn't it?

I'm glad you vote. Most lazy people think this is all they SHOULD do. How is that working out for America now? Get off your ass, and do something to help stop this slide to oblivion that America is on. Stop bragging about yourself and do something.

A lot of people here think that boomers are crap. At least we ORGANIZED and got a stop to that Vietnam war. It should have happened for the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war. Where were you guys?

I get that you think that working alone is all you need to do. That kind of mental software is how we got to where we are today in America. Its SELFISH. Glory in it and do nothing to help.

Or change your priorities and join a group and then steer it into a direction that will make an improvement in the world. Like a union!

Wow! You actually said something that made me respect you a little - "I knock on doors and volunteer my time to get local people elected that have values to make the community prosper!" Props to you for that!

I was going to say that your writing up till now seemed to be filled with the thinking typical of most American NPC's. Inside they are thinking "Look at me! Look at me! Look at all the great material stuff I have! I am so much cooler than you! I am better than you!". My reaction is "so what? What have you done to really help the people of the world? What have you done to stop the slide to where we are going?" THAT is what gets my respect. THAT is what I want to hear about.

Just participating in VOAT.XYZ raises awareness and that is key, and that is adding real value.

I think we have found common ground. Respect.

This is so funny. I wondered if you would even say anything more. You don't need my respect. And I don't need yours.

Thanks for the business idea. Generous of you. I did't need it because I already have more than I can ever spend. Still, I refuse to compare money, status, homes, or dick lengths with you. Not my thing.

Go ahead and hate me. That's okay if that's what you need. I already made up my mind that I like you. Because you did SOMETHING. Do you have any idea how many times I've tried to get people to do something like go door-to-door and stump for a candidate? As you know, most people will pussy out and whimp out with a lame excuse like "I have to paint my kitchen cabinet doors..........." People are too afraid and self-centered. Any yes, my standards aren't too high to respect someone. Because most people DO ABSOLUTELY ZERO. Personally, if my community ends up like East Palestine, Ohio or Lahaina I want to be able to think that at least I spent 2% (or whatever) of my time, doing SOMETHING to make things a little better prior.
