Fremantle Highway with Four hundred ninety-eight electric vehicles (EVs) and 3,200 other cars continues to burn, and is expected to sink. Small collisions result in total loss. Great Plan!
I can drive 400 miles, stop at a gas station, spend 10 minutes filling up, and drive another 400 miles.
Versus driving 200 miles and need 8 hours to recharge so I can drive another 200 miles.
Seems obvious. Just wait till this year's hurricane season and the next big hurricane that backs traffic up for a hundred miles for hours in the 100° heat.
Imagine having to flee a hurricane and your battery needs charging, and if it is charged and the atmosphere is saturated with salty sea air there's the risk of the battery exploding.

The cost -vs- insane hassle isn't worth it.

There isn't enough cobalt and lithium in the world to replace the batteries in the cars in operation, now.

What took around 10-11 hours drive time with gasoline, now becomes 10-11 hours driving + 32 hours spent charging with an EV.
