He did the right thing...in the majority of cases bears put on a big show...I don't even flinch anymore when I have an aggressive bear and at times if the odd one tries to put on a show I'll lunge towards him in an aggressive manner...the odd time I'll rap them on the snout with a stick and that fucks them right up.
My bears operate the cameras, in fact they're also in charge of security....my little part of this world is crime free...the bears have always been here, it's a way of life now, never have they done us any harm other than the loads of bear shit that we have to clean up 3 times a week. BUT I PROMISE YOU THIS, if by some twist of fate I do meet my end and my cameras are on me it'll be a battle, futile mind you but nevertheless a colorful one.
Would the bear delete the video after eating the people? Would he take the phone with him into the forest and bury it...? I'm having a hard time figuring out the no video part.
Because the equipment would languish and rot in the elements with no-one to drag it back home. Also, most folks wouldn't want to post a video of their friend getting eaten.
That's a bunch of horse shit. Everything would be found right away. And most folks are living in the tik tok world, very good chances the video makes it out.
Bears aren't pack hunters, fucking coyotes are more of a threat, in fact one of my bears lost 2 of her cubs to those fucking pests...bears are actually quite well demeanored when they congregate, I've seen bears allow injured bears to eat first, I've had a dozen at a time around me pigging out on peanuts and sunflower seeds and they're more civilized than most people...everything that people have been taught about bears has been a lie, surprise surprise...the same with wolves, I've got 3 big Timberwolves here and they know my habits, to the point where they'll take shortcuts on the trails I walk and meet up with me before I arrive to where I was going...but the fucking coyotes are evil and opportunistic, the wolves will put them in their place but there's too many....buddy down the road who passed away last year, along with myself, would shoot them whenever possible, I miss him...and we use the .17HMR at a distance of 100 - 125yrds, never more than 1 shot per kill, I've never seen such pinpoint accuracy in any other caliber and very little wind resistance too, beyond what one would expect from a projectile...anyways, bears, aside from Polar, Grizzly, Kodiak and the Northern Hybrid (very vicious) are big whimps...I've been bitten and swiped many times and only once did I have my skin bruised and it was my foot when I was playing with it.

This reminded me of the story of Timothy Treadwill, and the documentary movie "Grizzly Man".
Dude hated modern society and all that jazz, so he went up to live in Kodiak AK with the grizzlies and film them.
The guy clearly had issues, and really didn't view the bears as any kind of a threat whatsoever. On the day he was scheduled to go back to the mainland, he got a little too close to one particular bear, and it attacked and devoured both him and his girlfriend.
The whole thing was caught on audiotape, and according to the movie, is pretty gruesome, as would be expected.
