He was smart as fuck. Read constantly and been around the world. I would put him up there with some of the professors in MIT or Oxford. He's lived that shit and not just sat in an office.

Saw the Beatles when they were a local band, roadied for Jimi Hendrix, tried to teach Sid Vicious to play bass, played with every heavy band that ever existed, read every author published. The guy is a legend.

I saw Motorhead, Dio and Maiden in 2003. Mikky Dee's bass drums were so loud that I felt every thump on my chest. I also went with one of my best friends, and I still have the T-shirt I bought.

That may be the tour I saw. I thought it was only with Maiden though. Hmm, I’ll have to dig out my stubs. It was in Sacramento, ARCO arena or Cal Expo Amphitheater, don’t recall. Also saw DIO at Crest Theater in Sac. Saw Motörhead at the Brickworks in Chico.
That show was a chest thumper too, it was a small venue.

Even as a kid , brainwashed about ze evil Nazis , I felt bad for the Wermacht. Fought with the hearts of Lions, but 2 fronts and poor logistics and the Russian winter were just too much to overcome
