When you have a band that literally changed modern music and in the process influenced a lot of artists then of course their music is going to sound overly familiar and trite to modern ears. OP's like the kids who trashtalk The Beatles; "What's the big deal?" they whine.
They haven't a fucking clue, that's the deal. And neither does OP.
Though Tool's last album was 'generic Tool' -- which is not to be under valued BTW, it's just not very special any more -- and most of the prior album was self indulgent wankery, though it did have a couple moments of the old brilliance.
I actually do have a fuckin clue about Tool & they fucking suck - I've seen them live 3 times - Performance wise they're fucking killer, like a satanic version of Pink Floyd. On record they're boring as fuck except for Aenima. Lateralus was decent, 10,000 Days was boring & Fear Inoculum solidified that they became completely boring & keep rehashing the same sound.
That's how I know they suck. I only listened to half of their latest album and every song is at least 7mins on that record which is fucking stupid in this day & age of streaming where it's been statistically proven that shorter songs around 3mins do better & are more popular. Tool's songs just drag on and on.
You faggotkike. They didn’t change shit. They used middle eastern rhythms which were already the MOST popular in the world and simply became more popularized in the US because of you impressionable losers.
Did I upset a faggot Tool fanboy today? Pretty sure I hit that nerve. No where did I say anything about new music never being derivative. Now you are being a bitch defending a retard band that literally influenced garbage to be even more garbage. They didn’t change shit; Tool used the same musical tools that have been used in Eastern music and fooled a ton of stupid young faggots into accepting mixed and irregular time signatures as some kind of holy grail. Too bad the scales behind their sound is overused and repeated to a nauseous state.
Clearly your reading comprehension is as bad as your understanding of popular music. And the argument you continue to make proves nothing, except that you understand virtually nothing of the issue. Okay, so Tool used some musical motifs that had been used before SO FUCKING WHAT?????? Apparently you think this is some shocking reveal but buddy you are sorely mistaken. Next you'll be telling everyone that Elvis is crap because he stole from the blues. You do see how that is exactly the same agreement, right? It's not correct for Elvis and it's not correct for Tool... and for The Beatles... and for The Stones... and etc.
These artists influenced later artists in a meaningful, lasting way. This is the reason why their music sounds trite and overly familiar now. Dismiss me by calling me a fanboy all you want but it's not an argument and it's not even supported by my comments.
That you're an idiot, however, is well supported by yours.
Tool sounded trite in the early 90s, you faggot. No amount of your cocksucking attitude is going to change that. Pantera was always a better band and they had to go and assassinate Dimebag so that lower tier bands like Tool would shine for all you retarded bottom feeders.
(The same bitch): "I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE IN THOSE TWO! ONE IS THE LINE BETWEEN TWO STATES! THE OTHER IS A RACIST WHITE EVIL NAZI MEMBER OF THE PATRIARCHY! RRREEEEEE!"
"To which I replied, 'Oh this is a band called Tool, they're pretty talented and their singer is misunderstood. They actually have plenty of positive messages in their music. You just have to look past the yelling and read the lyrics. But if you'd like to address your concern I'd be happy to show you the customer service counter.' To that she paused and then smiled and just said, 'Well I just don't think you should be playing death metal in a grocery store.'"
lol no they didn't
redditors are somehow more pretentious than "maynard" (what a pretentious fake name, JAMES)
