When you have a band that literally changed modern music and in the process influenced a lot of artists then of course their music is going to sound overly familiar and trite to modern ears. OP's like the kids who trashtalk The Beatles; "What's the big deal?" they whine.

They haven't a fucking clue, that's the deal. And neither does OP.

Though Tool's last album was 'generic Tool' -- which is not to be under valued BTW, it's just not very special any more -- and most of the prior album was self indulgent wankery, though it did have a couple moments of the old brilliance.

I actually do have a fuckin clue about Tool & they fucking suck - I've seen them live 3 times - Performance wise they're fucking killer, like a satanic version of Pink Floyd. On record they're boring as fuck except for Aenima.
Lateralus was decent, 10,000 Days was boring & Fear Inoculum solidified that they became completely boring & keep rehashing the same sound.

That's how I know they suck. I only listened to half of their latest album and every song is at least 7mins on that record which is fucking stupid in this day & age of streaming where it's been statistically proven that shorter songs around 3mins do better & are more popular. Tool's songs just drag on and on.
