Its October 19th. Just past the filing deadline in Alabama to run for (be on the ballot for) president 2024. Biden is officially unopposed as the D candidate at this point.
Would anyone like to explain how the think the D's will get someone on the ballot in Alabama if Joe steps down or dies?
Spare me the "the don't care about the law" bullshit. In interested in actual legal methods going forward, post deadline.
There aren't rules for the parties, but the states have laws. There are laws and the laws do apply and people are challenged in those laws on the regular.
The dems won't enact a new law or change a current law. They can't. Each state has their own election laws and the early deadline states are red states. The Dems aren't going to get shit passed in states like Alabama and Texas (mid November deadline). When was the last time the D candidate wasn't on the ballot in all 50 states?
Last election, states that were blue at the state level, but swing states at the national level figured out how to rig their voting to guarantee a blue outcome. Not really the same thing.
Yes. In the states that were blue, they changed laws to make ballot harvesting and ballot stuffing possible. They also made it so that accounting for individual ballots was impossible. This resulted in those states, most considered swing states, to guarantee that the states electoral college votes went to Biden.
This is a bit different. If Trump doesn't need to campaign in Texas (a red state at the state level, but a slightly purple state at the national level) , for example, because he's unopposed there, he can focus his efforts on the swing states where he is opposed.
Add to that, the notable marker of not being on the ballot in all 50 states. Seems like a guaranteed loss if that were to be the case.
