I don't know where she lives. Here in Germany, those who don't want to work get their rent, utilities and medical insurance paid by the government and some cash for groceries on top of that.

If you do some black labor a couple of days per week, you'll end up with the same or even more income than the average blue collar worker working 40 hours per week. That's why more and more people either don't work at all, or don't give a shit about their jobs because nothing changes if they get fired.

There is actually a statistical equation for your benefit in this scenario.

Ie something like (benefit of not paying taxes x chance of not getting punished) - (cost if caught x chance of getting caught).

Essentially if your chance of getting caught is like 1% or less and your gain is like a decade or more’s worth your life in $ returned. Then you are wildly more worth it to not pay.

Easiest way to stop paying taxes is to run your own non-profit & LLC's. Defer it all. Everything.

Entire system is rigged this way by the wealthy, just use their rules. You can do it - and you can even expense the legal cost for forming the businesses.

I couldn't afford to live on my own when I first moved away from my parents either. That was over 20 years ago. You don't start at the top unless you've got connections. I had roommates for years.

I've said that for years. A neighbor family of mine, with 8 people in the family, had just finished building their house when a tornado destroyed it. They had a basement left, and nothing else. This was in the early 70's. They didn't have builders insurance or any insurance at all. The family of 8 lived in that basement for the next 25 years because they couldn't afford to build their house again. Not one of those people that grew up in that basement will listen to anything younger people today has to say about hard times.
I went to work at the age of 4. I was one of the lucky ones. I got to keep my money after working all day. Most of the other kids who lived around me had to work and give their pay to their parents just to have enough money to pay the bills and buy food.
Yes. Times are bad right now, but a huge part of that is because so many younger people think that they should start out at the top. They believe they should have a huge house, the best vehicles, and whatever toys they want plus vaca at the most high end resorts in existence. Unreasonable expectations.
