I think they deemed the cave a burial ground, capped the entrance with a crap ton of cement and put a memorial in the face of the cement. I don't think anyone has been back in there since.

Afaik, he was left in there - they still couldn't get his body out from the upside down wedged position he was in after he expired, so they sealed up the tunnel he was in back at the main passage way where it branched off, and placed a remembrance plaque.

Caving is notoriously dangerous for the exact reasons that this guy found out. It was admirable that they spent so many resources attempting to rescue the guy, but the greater lesson that he leaves behind should be something that inspires the rest of us to not take extreme risks with little reward. May God let him rest in peace, but don't forget that he chose to be there.

Yeah. I've been laying awake the past couple nights thinking about it, hoping I don't have a nightmare about it or Ill wake up screaming. Thinking about those Asic shoes and legs sticking up from that tight hole. That pic is burned into my brain. What a terrible way to go.

Cave divers deserve to die like this. Cave diving is the most avoidable form of death on the planet, while also being the stupidest activity on the planet. Who gives a fuck what is at the bottom of a cave? It's a fucking cave, it's not beautiful or scenic, it's a fucking hole in the ground. Fucking idiots.

I got stuck in a local cave one time. Felt like being buried alive. That was an effective cure for the desire to explore caves or tight places.

Yea, i'm familiar with this story, but They should have tried deliberately breaking his long ass legs to maneuver him out after dosing him with elephant levels of morphine. Even a literal emergency field amputation. Instead they fcked around for hours and hours with basically ' wiggle out backwards while we chip away at the rock'.


TLDR: The Drastic measures scenario.
