It's almost the shortest day of the year. That's okay. That means it's almost the longest night of the year! It's also a Friday, so it's time for the Friday Night Guitar Thread and we have all sorts of 'night' to jam!

Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, click this link. That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Talk.lol go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, ask a regular participant (such as @Sleazy or myself)

If you already know what's going on, you probably don't need to click any of those links. You can still visit to see if any changes have been made, as that's also where we kept the archives and have a second forum.

By the way, we're down to just two of us. If you want to help, let us know.

Hello and welcome to another FNGT! Like normal, we'll go ahead and get you started.

I don't have anything new (and I'm not too sure about a Christmas track) for you. But, I do have something that seldom fails to impress.

There are many great classical pieces. I have some of them memorized! This is one of them. It's a challenge to play and we all play it just a little differently. That's okay, it's a classical guitar thing. You're expected to put your own spin on things, so long as you're faithful to the composition. I do both, including staying faithful to the composition.

Bach's 2nd Sonnata

That should calm you down a little, because music is a powerful thing.

Enjoy and rock on, goats! Rock on!

This is playing now. it sounds lovely. Bach is so cool, but he ain't no Mozart!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 6 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:05:21 ago (+6/-0)

LOL I would have to say that I prefer Bach. I find him more fluid and he did some unique things (for the time) with throwing in the occasional weird notes that turned out to work okay in the context. Every now and again you'll come across some chord that can only be described as a diminished 12th with a flat 5th and it just works.

I do like Mozart as well. I don't recall sharing any Mozart, though I'm sure I must have. I'd have to check the archives.

There is just something about listening to Mozart that makes me feel happy.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:22:15 ago (+3/-0)

Hmm... I'll keep that in mind.

[ - ] Sector2 4 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:18:56 ago (+4/-0)

That did calm me down a little.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 4 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:23:02 ago (+4/-0)

Sweet! I find it calming music. I think that was the intent of the composer. Most of his work is soft and fluid, moving from piece to piece. Good stuff!

My buddy Chris came over earlier this week and we jammed out. I showed him this riff I had come up with the day before and we turned it into a new song, called comin' down again

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 4 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:02:56 ago (+4/-0)

That there's a lot of reverb on the vocals.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:03:32 ago (+3/-0)

too much reverb? do i need to fix it?

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 4 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:05:37 ago (+4/-0)

Nah, leave it. It works.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:14:01 ago (+3/-0)

That was actually the other night, after I had come home from my friends house that morning I went to work with my son and was sitting at home around 5 PM tired and falling asleep at the kitchen table to I went and layed down in bed and fell to sleep. About midnight I woke up having to take a leak, and I looked at my phone and Chris has texted me a little after 5 saying wanna jam? So I texted him back yeah, just for the fuck of it at midnight, and a minute later he was at my bedroom door trying to get in, apparently he had been here the whole time I was sleeping, drinking a bottle of brandy with my kids

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:21:57 ago (+3/-0)

Coffee brandy?

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:25:39 ago (+3/-0)

E&J Brandy

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:33:02 ago (+3/-0)

I am unfamiliar with that brandy. It does appear to come from the wine makers, so there's that.

It looks like a remarkably inexpensive brandy. In Maine, we do coffee brandy. In particular, it's Allen's Coffee Brandy. If you want to tag a fat chick, just tell her you've got coffee brandy back at the house.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:38:03 ago (+3/-0)

I don't drink brandy nor tag fat chicks LoL I like the thin women, 100-120 pound women suit me just fine. I very rarely drink any booze, usually only if we run out of beer after midnight and I want more alcohol and have a mixed drink

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:48:02 ago (+3/-0)

I'm definitely not into shagging fat chicks, but I will have a glass or two of coffee brandy, preferably without much milk - if any at all.

Yup... Coffee brandy is mixed with milk. It's a 'White Russian'. A 'Black Russian' is coffee brandy mixed with vodka.

That's a kick ass tune bro

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 16, 2023 23:30:02 ago (+2/-0)

We did a Christmas song for you all the other night too. Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:34:01 ago (+3/-0)

LOL I'm surprised you didn't save that until next week.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:36:02 ago (+3/-0)

Well there's a whole lot more Christmas songs we have to share next week.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:46:33 ago (+3/-0)

LOL I have a huge backlog of holiday songs. So, I've got that going for me. We'll see if our holiday track is ready on time. I'll see what can be done, but I have family rolling in this weekend.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:47:25 ago (+3/-0)

You can get your wife to finish it by then!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 4 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 20:48:19 ago (+4/-0)

We shall see... That's all I can say at this point.

[ - ] Sleazy 5 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 22:24:08 ago (+5/-0)

I've got one more song to share with you all tonight with me and my buddy Chris, All Hail by the Devil Makes Three

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 22:39:36 ago (+2/-0)

Huh... I've never heard that song before.

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 15, 2023 22:58:42 ago (+2/-0)

Neither had I. Apparently its from ten years ago

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 16, 2023 00:25:28 ago (+2/-0)

Well, now we know!

[ - ] Hall_of_Cost 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 16, 2023 23:38:59 ago (+2/-0)

Holy shit that song is awesome 👌

[ - ] HowDoYouDoFellowNiggers 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 16, 2023 00:28:57 ago (+3/-1)

wait. the days are already about to get longer? that's great news.

death to israel and the jewish ethnicity

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 16, 2023 00:32:21 ago (+3/-0)

December 20th or 21st. I guess it depends on the year and I didn't look this one up. That's when the days start getting longer - if you're north of the equator. The opposite is true if you're not. So, if you're in Australia then you'll find your days are starting to get shorter.

The closer you are to the Equator the less you're impacted by the change in daylight. So, those folks have that going for them.

[ - ] HowDoYouDoFellowNiggers 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 16, 2023 01:37:48 ago (+1/-1)

So, those folks have that going for them.

which is nice

[ - ] Hall_of_Cost 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 16, 2023 13:23:51 ago (+2/-0)

I recorded this a long time ago when I gave this guitar away.

Last solo

I toned it down cause the guy playing rhythm was getting messed up when I let loose and I could tell he was getting annoyed.

he cannot play lead (me neither but I mean at all) as he has always played rhythm.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 16, 2023 17:05:05 ago (+2/-0)

Interesting... Due to the way it was recorded, parts of it sound like a violin.

[ - ] Hall_of_Cost 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 16, 2023 17:26:35 ago (+2/-0)

Thanks, I went via bus/train down to Chicago with two guitars, a backpack with my pedal board and a Peavey Rockmaster 9v 5w amp. That could also explain the strange sound.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 16, 2023 17:56:08 ago (+2/-0)

Maybe? I can hear your point about the rhythm guitarist. They were having timing issues near the end, at least to my ears.
