And, I wasn't aware that there was a capital gains tax on gold. I've never had to report my gold holdings, buying or selling.

I’ve never reported. I believe the tracking of precious metal transfers is Patriot Act bs. I’ve been amassing a bit of gold and lot of junk silver for three decades. I have no idea what I paid, it fluctuates by the minute. I used to keep track, then stopped because I’m buying pre-64 silver dimes for collapse bartering, not to sell as an investment, so I don’t care about capitol gains. No one is going to be able to make change for an ounce of gold in a collapse situation. Get the silver dimes.
It’s fun, you never know what will come in a bag of junk silver. I’ve got lots of dimes that were circulating when Lincoln was alive.
