The whole thing is such a racket that when I ordered my new truck last year, I ordered it with lower gears and the biggest V-8 available. They want to push that twin turbo six banger crap on you, but the V-8 runs stronger and gets the same mileage, and doesn’t have turbos to replace in five years.

Reason i'm thinking refurbishing the hybrid is because of the running gears/ etc already set up for the ice part of the vehicle transmission when the electric is not in operation, so in my very limited understanding - like you say is it possible and then is it profitable or just a complete nightmare/ money sink.

What you're looking for here is insurance, I think. There are warranties that include accidental breakage but not usually car ones. That is the insurance, because these claims are resulting from an accident. You can buy a warranty that covers workmanship.

I don't have first hand knowledge, but heard that Tesla gives a 120k mile warranty or so on the battery. A 70,000 mile battery seems kind of low, when it costs that much to replace.

The batteries in a lot of cars are just 18650 vape batteries in a case. What it leaves open a lot, if they don't lock you out in software, is you could just rebuild the battery yourself. They do this in Ukraine.
