What was the most disappointing concert you've been to?

submitted by Scyber to AskUpgoat 1.3 yearsJan 19, 2024 21:26:18 ago (+12/-1)     (AskUpgoat)

I'll start - Deftones in 2006, day after St. Patrick's Day.
Band was so hungover or drunk that they couldn't play anything but songs from their first album. They stopped the show twice to talk backstage and figure out what to play. The singer (Chino) came back and apologized to the crowd and said that their drummer, Abe couldn't remember anything other than songs from Adrenaline, and then proceeded to sing out of tune for their entire set which was cut short after their guitarist, Stephen got pissed with the drummer and the bad sound and threw his guitar on the ground and walked offstage in the middle of "Engine Number 9."

I saw Old Crow Medicine Show back when they were good, only the sound guy fucking sucked and ruined the show completely. I'm surprised no one from the band said anything. You'd think you'd want to sell a good product before you've made all that fuck-off money.

I guess I'm lucky as I've never been to a bad concert. I've loved every one I've been to.

Robin Trower about'95. He had a new album that was jazz and the only old song that he played was the last song of the night.

Absolutely sucked

Guns and Roses. I don't know if all their concerts were like it, but Axl Rose sounded like a cat being continually strangled.

I saw Cake twice back when they were popular, and they sucked horribly both times. Both shows were at festivals, and they played at like 3:00 PM both times. The crowd was NOT into them either time, and the lead talker dude was furious about it both times and would just rant at the crowd about how they were dicks and should be having fun and cheering.

It wasn't until a little later in life that I realized that Cake sucked in general.

David Bowie, the Glass Spider tour. I had watched the 1983 'Serious Moonlight' tour video a bunch of times (excellent), and was stoked. I walked out after 20 minutes.

Amy Grant in the mid 90's. My mom took me. I think I was about 15. Maybe 16. My mom used to occasionally get free tickets to concerts for some reason, and if my dad was busy, she'd take me instead. That's how I ended up seeing my first 3-4 concerts.

Show opened with an awful Ashley Cleveland.

We had cheap seats so far away you could barely even see Amy Grant. I figure that's most of the point of going to a live concert, to actually see the band/singer you listen to at home.

My memory is not the greatest, but I feel like she sang most of the songs differently than what were released as singles. I think the song I was looking forward to the most, she sang VERY differently, and really put me off.

I think by the end of the show I was feeling like I should have just stayed home and listened to some CDs or something. It was probably great for boomer christians, but I was very underwhelmed.

Fucking TOOL man. Their newest album was just about to be released and we were hoping to be one of the first to hear one of the new songs. Nope.

Pretty light show and all that, and all the band members did play great, except the lead singer, he put in no effort. All the best parts of the songs where he was supposed to belt out, he would full blown skip it, stay silent and let the crowd sing it. Fucking faggot.

Red Hot Chili Peppers at lollapalooza in 06. Lamest headliner show for a festival I've ever been to. Anthony sounded like he had a wicked cold and the energy reflected it.

Rush (circa 1990). They had recently released a new album, but I was hoping to hear some old stuff. No way, Jose. All new crap, so after an hour we got up and left the venue. It was that bad, imo.

[ - ] dingbat 2 points 1.3 yearsJan 19, 2024 23:33:52 ago (+2/-0)

I hate when they do that! And how disappointing, especially with Rush!!!!!

Depeche Mode did that back in 2018. I think they played two songs that weren’t from their new album. That was a close second on my list.

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 2 points 1.3 yearsJan 20, 2024 09:59:57 ago (+2/-0)

Rush was a bucket list band of mine before Niel Peart died. Hard to listen to them now knowing how fuckin jewish Geddy Lee is.

[ - ] Outlaw_Aryan 0 points 1.3 yearsJan 19, 2024 23:40:37 ago (+1/-1)

I'm sorry but you're wrong. Don't ask me to explain why, just that you are. I know that's irrational but it's Rush so there. We can take this outside if you prefer! 😳

2008 BOB DYLAN

Geezer did 3 songs, shit himself, and left. Lights turned on and security yelled at us to get out

I went to a Disturbed Concert and the audio setup was bad and ruined all the songs played, even Stupify and Down with the Sickness. And that leader jew singer was trying to play off the blood sacrifice stuff that jews do as hysteria drummed up by dark arts music.... nah. jews kidnap and kill babies

Hmm, it’s been so many years since I’ve been to a concert I can’t remember the last one I went to. I am really afraid of seeing old bands and being disappointed, so I don’t go see people like The Eagles, or whomever. I really just avoid being disappointed by not going. Besides, I hate people and large drunken sweaty crowds.

Bob Dylan in like 2015 or 2015. It was the only major show I've walked out on. It was so fuckin strange, you'd think it was some post punk shit done up high class.

[ - ] FreeinTX 4 points 1.3 yearsJan 19, 2024 21:50:10 ago (+4/-0)

I worked it, didn't go on my own, but Snoop Dog played for less than 45 minutes at a small, hugely expensive, sold out venue. It was game 5 (or sum sheeit) of the NBA Championship Finals and the Lakers were playing, so he stayed in his van till the game was over, more than an hour past stage time. The Lakers had lost, so he was like "fuck everyone" and barely did a shit show.

[ - ] Imsickofmakingusernames 2 points 1.3 yearsJan 20, 2024 02:03:12 ago (+2/-0)

Yeah I made the mistake of going to a Ludcris concert. I know, I know. Dumb nigger bullshit. I was like 18 or something. Anyways, he doesn’t come out until the show is halfway over and then left early, prolly to smoke more weed. I was like one of 3 white guys among thousands of pissed off niggers. That wasn’t even the bad part. To cover for his nigger ass they had this dumpy 50 year old white woman who was a radio host or some shit try to placate the crown with just being annoying while we wait. The crown chanted ‘move bitch, get out the way, get out the way bitch, get out the way,’ most of the night. Fuck Ludacris.

[ - ] RabbiKinderschtupper 0 points 1.3 yearsJan 20, 2024 08:12:03 ago (+0/-0)

Oh man, that sucks. They were awesome when I saw them in like...1996 👴🏻

[ - ] lord_nougat 6 points 1.3 yearsJan 19, 2024 22:04:02 ago (+6/-0)

Echo and the Bunnymen last year, seemed like a drunken Irishman with a diversity hire band who just listened to the songs once or twice and only sort of tried to play them, with waaaay too many smoke machines.

I still appreciate Ian's work, but holy shit, that was a derpy show.

[ - ] dingbat 5 points 1.3 yearsJan 19, 2024 22:51:25 ago (+5/-0)

Ryan Adams in 2002. He was on smack and completely blasted out of his mind. He could barely stand up and kept yelling at the crowd. I think he finished about three songs and sounded so bad that the whole venue booed. He walked off stage after about 25 minutes. I’ve never seen people so livid in a large crowd. Such a waste of money.

[ - ] lord_nougat 3 points 1.3 yearsJan 19, 2024 22:59:03 ago (+3/-0)

That almost sounds like it could have been awesome. Oh well.

[ - ] dingbat 4 points 1.3 yearsJan 19, 2024 23:05:24 ago (+4/-0)

To be honest, when he got all butthurt from our booing and walked off, the bright lights went on and everyone was talking shit with thick Midwest accents. “Man, FUCK that guy!” “What a fuckin’ loser!” “Piece of shit!” “What a pussy!” Any person I made eye contact with—we instantly talked shit. It was hilarious, actually.

[ - ] Centaurus 1 point 1.3 yearsJan 19, 2024 23:24:45 ago (+1/-0)

I can't believe I have never heard of that guy. Does he have any big hits?

A lot of people know this song from the movie ‘Old School’. He’s a really good songwriter, I cannot lie. I still listen to his old stuff and his old band before he went solo, which is called Whiskeytown.
