6 of the 7 of the Gen X people I can think of do this. The odd guy out is a nut job and can't think right at all from getting hit on the head too many times.

We were the original "Slacker" generation. We were taught (or taught ourselves) not to give a fuck about what people think because praise wasn't something that was doled out often. We were raised by boomers who either ignored us so the System raised us or they shit on everything we did because nothing was as good as what they did.

GenX parents tended to overcomensate by becoming helicopter moms and Soccer Susans. That's where the participation trophies come from.
