Sure, beat the ticket cant beat the ride. Although several hours (or several weeks) in pokey is much preferable that 3-5 years and a record.
I gladly sat in jail for 2 weeks on some made up he said she said bs, knowing i would get out with zero conviction as long as i shut the fck up and never said anything.
Sure enough all charges dismissed for lack of evidence.

2 weeks is bullshit. In a small town, you should have been arraigned within like 72 Hours and in a big city you would have likely been arraigned in 12-24 hours. Corpus Dilecti and all. That case must have had some merits.

I dont disagree.
Was brought to the station on a friday or saturday - and charged - appeared in court the next monday plead not guilty - remanded for two weeks for pretrial hearing iirc - then was 'discovered' in court that the witness had declined to appear in court and they can no longer contact her -so basically it was just the arresting cops saying i did something that they couldnt even provide actual testimony/ evidence for (and the one making the allegations be cross examined in court). And me with a big fAT SMIRK ON MY DIAL.

EDIT: Did the case have merit -possibly.
do i do the 'crime' - not in the way the police alleged - i maintain to this day , that it was my property all along, and that i simply accepted (several hundred dollars) back into my hands and placed it onto my person for safe keeping.

I don't mind talking to the cops. I'm intelligent enough to easily outsmart them without incriminating myself. Just have a polite conversation that never admits to any wrongdoing.

The problem is crooked cops will twist your words into the pretext they need to violate your rights. It's a dangerous game no matter how you proceed.

When I got busted for smoking weed (my dumbass friend was driving with an expired registration) I told the cops I had nothing to say. He already confessed and signed a form letting them search the car. When it came time to handcuff us he got handcuffed in the front and they handcuffed me in the back because I didn't talk. I believe this is because I didn't answer questions. lol

edit: I'll add the cops ended up being really cool. Even though we got busted they took us to the station, processed us, and then drove us back to the car and let me drive. My friends drivers license was also expired. lol.

Cops don't want to work. Like most people they will be happy to do the minimum. They want to do the minimum and go back to their car and sit on their ass drinking coffee for the rest of their shift.

I'm not friend of cops but I've found that if you make it easy for them to get through the stop with as little bullshit as possible that's usually how it goes. I've been stopped for bullshit before and I've been stopped for minor violations and I've even pushed them a little bit just to test how far to take it and that's what I've found- make it fast and easy and they will go back to their car and eat donuts.

I'm not saying just give in and accept their bullshit but don't make them deal with extra bullshit and usually it's the best way to go.
