Unpopular opinion, but I believe they faked the moon landing. Communist Russia was beating us on all space fronts, first to space, first to orbit, first human in space, etc, etc. It was making us look like complete shitheads. To put them in their place we suddenly have a mission where we get to space, get to orbit, get to the moon, land on the moon, take photos, leave the moon, safely return to earth. Mathematically it was 1 in a trillion odds and any talk of returning to the moon, even today in 2024 is instantly snubbed with notions that it'll be too complicated. No other first world has even considered it, and we wont repeat it. We faked it. Was a good fucking gag even though Russia never bought it officially, but on the outside it put the Russians in their place and made their agencies second guess our superiority in warfare and firepower and it had an incredible chilling effect for decades. That was the whole fucking point and it worked. America won and that was the point. Anyone who thinks it wasn't fake-able forgets to remember that 2001 Space Oddeysey by Stanley Kubrick was released in 1968 and demonstrated how Hollywood can demonstrate 0 gravity effects and space travel extremely well, in fact, more convincingly than the 1969 footage itself. W e can obviously get to orbit and so can the Russians. The moon landing mission mysteriously had all the telemetry data which shows your position in 3 dimensions in space, it was mysteriously deleted. The "moon rocks" we delivered to museums around the world were discovered to be fraudulent. If any of you have ever watched the Neil Armstrong press conference shortly after they arrived, they all have the defeated attitude of people who wanted to believe but were then forced to lie to the world they loved. It's the most depressing conference you will ever see in your lifetime. Neil was so depressed, he became a recluse and never gave a speach to anyone again, until the 25 year reunion where he gave a cryptic speach about removing truth's protective layers to get to the bottom of anything.

Do you understand that, the fame part? It's for people who are/were famous and since I'm guessing you weren't alive to watch the Apollo missions, what do you base your supposition on?
