There’s a lot of better options. Coconut oil, butter, bacon grease have a low smoke point but are healthier. Peanut oil is better for high temp. Lard is the best.
I've yet to see a single study that proves rapeseed oil is expressly bad for you. But there are so many other acceptable oils available there's no reason for me to have to consume it. I will say that if I had to choose between cold pressed organic canola oil and hydrogenated oil the canola would win in a heartbeat.
Regardless you don't want to be cooking with any nut or seed oil. Use lard or tallow for that.
My reading on the matter has been that linoleic acid is the bad component of seed oils. Canola is a special breed of rape seed to have very low linoleic acid. it also tastes the least bad of the typical "vegetable oils".
I much prefer butter for low temperature cooking and tallow for high temperature cooking.

Canola oil is extracted with hexane.
Modern gasoline blends contain about 3% hexane. It's a petroleum product.
