I don't understand something..was Stalin a Jew or was he a non Jew who finally gained enough power to take on the Jews that were running the country since they took over in 1917?

Officials often paint Stalin as the bad guy which makes me think he was a good guy going after Jews. Did he mostly purge Jews?
