The greatest explanation of multiple dimensions was a 19th century book called FLATLAND. I used to have that book and it was marvelous.

Now ther is an audiobook on YT for the patient listener. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pivnpMohki0

You can still get it from Dover for like $3

No such thing as dimensions. Only as concepts and within mathematics.

So (((Carl Sagan))) copied that idea from someone else. So surprising.

That kid's voice already sounds more manly than most soyfaggots these days.

I hate these stupid tiktok uploads that shamelessly repost other people's content and slap on some text that are blatant lies. The kid didn't disappear after that video. He made a few other videos afterward, then went on a long hiatus, and is now back under a second channel: https://www.youtube.com/@thexkcdHatGuy

Here's the original video on his old channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGguwYPC32I

We do see things in 3D. It's called depth perception.

Entertaining musings but the argumentation isn't very strong. And some of his arguments have holes in them.

We see thing in steroscopic 3d, which is not 3 dimensional. If we saw things in 3d, we could see through them with no occlusion.

Our brain processes 3D images based on the raw inputs. We usually oversimplify what our eyes actually see, and for the sake of conversation call it a 2D array for each eye. But the truth is the eye is a 3D environment that is able detect spacial things like the polarity of light.

Occlusion

If you looked into a room full of translucent and transparent objects, are you suggesting we have 3D vision regarding those things but not opaque items?

I don't agree with the video's notion that a 2D being would only see 1D, and by extension I don't believe 3D beings only see 2D.

the boy is a genius. Now give him a lollipop

Sounds like he just read Micho Kaku's 1994 book Hyperspace. Same stuff. Trying to explain something we can't really imagine into 3D terms.

Pretty basic.

I skipped ahead and I still regret the 5 minutes invested.
