The path I chose. It got me into some difficulties, though it's kinda funny thinking back. There were times when no belt, spoon, or stick could be found anywhere near the place we lived.

Maybe if they sat me down and explained shit, it would have turned out differently.

I feared the spatula more. The wider, flat surface area had a consistent sting. The belt could have mis-strikes and you could fake the pain.

That hit closer to home more than you'll ever know. And it wasn't some pussy belt they make nowadays, it was a 2 1/2" thick leather belt with heft.

I still, to this day, can hear the sound whipping through the belt loops in a fast, smooth motion.
