yeah, in a 'democracy' such thing is possible

[ - ] UncleDoug 5 points 11 monthsJun 4, 2024 22:25:05 ago (+5/-0)

This is going to get surprisingly more and more common within the coming years.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 3 points 11 monthsJun 5, 2024 10:56:36 ago (+3/-0)

It's more common than you think. We're only seeing those who have the clout to make shit known.

The relevant clause, 16.4, states that the bank may close an account at any time due to “unsatisfactory conduct”, which it says includes behaviour that is “defamatory, harassing, threatening to any person”, or “promotes or encourages physical or mental harm of any person”.

The bank literally doing the things it claims are the reasons for closing his account.

Your thought crimes shall be reported.

That last paragraph had some good news, I hadn't heard.

Farage (the politician) was debanked and was able to force an investigation and get the resignation of not only the Coutts (bank) chief executive, but also the CEO and owner of NatWest bank.

Brilliant.

Kanye: If you havent been lebodomized. Take notes.

So start doing it back to commies, they will probably act of some fake tweet screenshots and just email them to all the banks, it will be a problem when it happens to the wrong person.

Private company doesn't want to do business with someone. This was fine when it was someone making a cake. Now everyone is against it? They gave hin 30 days notice and returned his money. Bunch of Karen's whining

Fuck banks, anyway.

[ - ] Sal_180 1 point 11 monthsJun 5, 2024 09:45:15 ago (+1/-0)

Yeah, I agree

Except banks are an acting government institution.
And government isn't allowed discriminate or suppress freedom of speech or gatekeep in a Democracy.

Rob a bank and the security guards don't have a 'duty to retreat' like private citizens with freedom of association.
Federal cops wouldn't consider that a private business matter for civil court.
Also see: Licensing to create, regulators, FDIC, bailouts, etc

Lol, such bullshit.

They returned his money, notified him well in advance of closure and he knew it was coming.

Banks are not under any responsibility to protect your personal freedoms, there or anywhere.

Know what you could do? Open your own bank since you value these people's views.

Know what you could do? Suck start a shotgun, kike.

I’m opening a bank you need a severed cats head as well as a video of you severing the cats head in order to open an account

[ - ] Anotherone 1 point 11 monthsJun 5, 2024 05:05:50 ago (+1/-0)

Yall fucking weird.

"Banks are not under any responsibility to protect your personal freedoms, there or
anywhere."
Not asking to protect personal freedoms because that is not a banks businss model. Picking and choosing winners is also not part of a banks business model. They are in business to make money off customers, period. They are NOT paid to run a political party. What someone does outside of banking is none of a banks business. If they pick winners and losers, then they engage in discrimination at their own peril.

They are indeed going to snuff accounts of anyone they deem as unsavory. It is no different than a gas station refusing service for no shoes or shirt.

I don't like it anymore than the next guy, but until we get laws on the books about discrimination due to whatever legal jargon language then having the expectation of them doing the "right" Thing is absurd.

Just like how CC companies can restrict your card in firearm purchasing. They issued the line of credit, and they can terminate or even restrict you as laid out in ToS.

If you read the article this dude knew it was going to happen, and even mentioned how others he knows had it happen. My question is why if so many in their circle knew about this, why haven't they banded together to make an alternative?

Why hasn't anyone for that matter?
