Do you prefer to learn from video tutorials or written articles?

I learned from books and because of that I feel confident in the things I program. Which learning method did you use the most?

Let us know in the comments what it was, as this can help other people to follow more efficient learning paths.

Books. You get what you pay for.

Some years back, it occurred to me that there might be men out there who are older, wiser, and more experienced than I am in a number of different topics. And some of them may have written about their experiences.

Oh, this is about programming, my comment was about all aspects of life which would include but not be limited to programming.

you did well to pass this on. because the purpose of this is to frame all aspects of life

Written. I hate videos. Repair walkthroughs are different though. Chilton and Haynes manuals suck.

Video tutorials are shit for learning most things unless you like a 20 minute video padded with intros, ads, and other various shilling.

This is not just applicable to programming. Written whenever possible because I read and comprehend 3-4x faster than a well-paced speaking tone.

Youtube tutorials are infuriatingly slow to get to the point more often than not.

If it's a delicate or mechanically complex procedure, then I do like a video demonstration, such as when I learned how to detail strip a Luger.

Maintenance and repairs you need to see how parts fit together. You can learn a lot just watching disassembly.

A combination of both, videos are excellent for an easy introduction to get you started and build your vocabulary to get you started, followed by books for the deeper dive into the subject matter.

Nothing educates a person more than the lessons learned from observing the mistakes of others...I don't trust much of anything that is supposed to educate me today...going through school I was taught that there's only 2 genders, today I'm being "reeducated" to believe that there's multiple genders and that niggers are intelligent, women are powerful, kids are wise and intellectually superior to me, 2+2=5 and if I disagree then I'm an antiseptic...fuck that.

and to speed up this learning process I've added a list of tools that help me a lot with this. See the list here: https://chat-to.dev/post?id=158
