That's amazing. I had no idea how that worked. Its just basically a rotary hammer and chisel. A hammer blow multiplies force. This is so heavy it doesn't need a force multiplier. Thank you, that's good information.
I’ve got gold roller cone cuff links that once belonged to my dad. Awarded for service in the oil industry. They’re cool, but too garish to wear unless it’s 1976. I just like to look at them.
Try them with a swanky large collar and your shirt unbuttoned a bit. Add in a gold chain or two. Angel flight pants will accentuate this overall look for a complete win in any disco tech you enter!
Howard Hughes was not an oil man. He made his money from selling drill bits, in fact, the same drill bits his father, Howard Hughes Sr., invented with a partner, which was the roller cone drill bit.
When I was a young lad I worked for a core drilling company and we used these all the time with very high water pressure. Its the bit we use to start the hole to set the 20-30ft casing and then went to a smaller diamond tip bit with an inner barrel/rod that collected the core. These bits are very expensive. We were drilling for coal to see how deep it is, what's above and below it and then test the quality o the coal. Yes, today Upgoat found out I was a roughneck/Geologist for a while. Ya'll don't even understand how many holes I've drilt.
fuck i hate drilling into stone its all so inconsistent, sucks when you are up a ladder and you need to push so hard you nearly push the ladder of the wall
@drhitler...are you referring to a "stoper" or "jack leg"?...shouldn't be feeding them into the roof or undercut from a ladder, scaffold or portable platforms are where they perform effectively as the force required is dependent upon the downward force at the base...if the bit is skiffing over the cut surface then it's not cutting, if it's got "hammer chatter" and bouncing around then there's too much applied forces, there should be a slight stalling sound with a grinding crunch which indicates that the bit is chewing through the bore hole material...fuck, I used to drill, load, blast and muck by myself at times, just remember two very important rules, never go into a drift or undercut until you scale, and, never drill into a bootleg...."now drill ye terriers drill, cause it's work all day for a penny in your pay"...
