My dog died a while back, and I was really devastated. Each night I would feed him in the laundry room and turn off the light for him to finish in the dark. I kinda felt bad for this but didn't want to hang around with the light on while he was finishing. This was my only regret. Remember to leave the light on.
Just because 'dogs and cats don't need light/can see in the dark' doesn't mean they wouldn't ENJOY having the light on and it be easier for them. So sick of hearing this bullshit rhetoric about dogs and cats 'seeing in the dark'. Who taught you that, anyway? Some fucking kike? Yeah.
Regardless. Doesn't mean they wouldn't LIKE the light on.

He thought you were great for feeding him.
Well, he didn't think anything because dogs have no language in their brains, just love.
