The "coverup" is that they tried to murder the guy that they've spent the last 9 years trying to destroy politically and financially, but had been unsuccessful to date. They literally thought that indictments would kill Trump, politically. They thought a charge of sedition could get him off the ballot. They thought that 34 convictions would do it. They thought they could convince the people that Russian collusion allegations would do it. They thought 2 impeachments would do it. But the day before the assassination attempt, he was winning and on his way to a landslide in November.

9 fucking years of trying to get rid of Trump only to, at the very last minute, decide Trump is a good guy, and create an assassination narrative to ensure that he would be elected, despite the fact that Biden's brain is melting in real time and Trump was ahead in every swing state on the way to a landslide victory.

Trump had an easy win in November. A fake assassination attempt wasn't needed. All they had to do if there was even the slightest doubt that Trump would win, is just let Biden debate him in September.
