I went to https://rutube.ru/ just to check it out. As @GrayDragon pointed out, Brave did a good job translating most text to English so you can at least navigate the website. While most of the content on the front page is of little to no interest to me, it is nice not seeing a bunch of degenerate filth and the same stylized photoshopped clickbait thumbnails all over the place.

One of the first things I noticed is that it has minimum age for videos, although it didn't block an 18+ video while not logged in. At least it looks like the Ruskies are trying to be somewhat non-degenerate jews.

The video I played took two seconds to start, but then played fine. If I uploaded videos, I would certainly make it one of my upload sites.

E: Oh, and Brave translate did a solid job.

Good. YouTube sucks. Google should be destroyed for what they turned it into.

BlackList it so normies won't be able to access it like they do to RT.com news in some western countries (like UK).

Allow people to visit the site (illusion of freedom), but strangle the bandwidth to the site so it's useless for the most part. Bitchute comes to mind how shit that is in performance. Russia being shit with technology/internet infrastructure across the world etc. will also give them the excuse and cover they need.

Attack the bandwidth (using bandwidth costs money), using millions of computers/points across many countries at their disposal to damage the site in general. If this was a private company it wouldn't stand a chance, but since it's government and directly adverserial anticipating western attacks like that, they may have some decent protections.

Funny headline. As if the Russian government run website will take over youtube. All rutube is for is to get Russian citizens an alternative before they ban youtube.
