The Santa Claus thing is weird. I was just thinking about that the other day. I wonder if that's when Santa Claus became a normal thing.

You trust your parents so they get your parents to lie to you. When you're old enough to go to school, you are confronted with other kids that know Santa Claus isn't real. They make you feel ostracized because you feel like an idiot for believing your parents. Now you lose trust in your parents and you realize that the people ostracizing you are right. Now they conditioned you to go with the globe because you would experience the same kind of treatment denying the globe as a little kid going to first grade that still believes in Santa Claus. In the case of Santa Claus, your parents were wrong and the government-funded school was right. So people subconsciously relate the globe to that same experience when they were wrong and were made fun of about it.
