The future will be drone wars. It will be very few large targeted targetable vehicles used to launch the drones. Instead drones will have very small independent launchers they can be quickly moved anywhere and if anyone is struck it doesn't represent a huge loss. It's just too easy for drones to take out large targets. And that's true for the US too. I think the days of the aircraft carrier being invulnerable quickly coming to an end and that means that the aircraft carrier superiority the US has will be a lot less meaningful in the future except against totally backward Nations
