Augason farms food buckets

submitted by Gowithit to preppers 8 monthsAug 8, 2024 16:09:54 ago (+15/-0)     (preppers)

Dont have that great of a lid. Bought their rice because bulk and already in a bucket but for end of world purposes that lid will sink you. Duct tape it after individually packaging rice inside of it would be my suggestion if wanting to store it for long term. Best suggestion would be to get a better bucket to put it in.

That's nuts the wife and I were just talking about trying that same brand about an hour ago. Thanks for the tip. Have you tasted any of it yet or did you only get their rice?

Edit:I was a dumb nigger and used there instead of their.

Thanks for the heads up gowtiit. I've been loading up on Mt House freeze dryed when it's on sale and have no experience with augansen. I did the dessicant packets and sealed mylar bags. Each bag was marked and put into a food grade bucket (cause they stack well).

Did the same with rolled oats, lentils, beans and god knows what else. Stuff cheap when bought in a bulk bag, and stores for years. So plunk a $100 bill down and have some minor food security.

Toss a 55 gallon barrel or 2 under your downspouts and load up on a few different styles water filters as well and you'll be GTG.

Any food that you try to store long term needs to be protected from oxygen. Purging the non-permeable container with nitrogen, and adding sufficient O2 eaters should be your minimum standard if it's for your long term survival.

One of my favorite places for long shelf-life grains was the Mormon Church website. I guess there was a fun hobby aspect to it having several large cans full of different variations of grain and flour that I’m hoping to never need to use.

I made sure to stack up potassium chloride, sodium chloride, magnesium sulfate, and sodium bicarbonate. Should starvation ever come for us, those electrolytes will be vitally important until the very end.

Survival prepping was more of a phase for me. Once I was happy with my supply, I moved on to other projects. There was too much of myself hoping for an actual disaster to validate my stockpile - which is counterproductive in nature.

My diet is mostly fresh meat so my stockpile inevitably became solely 25-year shelf stable items.

I bought a huge bag of rice from Costco a long time ago, and it had some bugs in it after storing long term. I’m sure it was from the eggs laid in the rice since it was sealed well.
I now freeze my rice for a few days to kill the eggs.

I bought bags of rice and bags of different kinds of beans and vacuum sealed weighed portions and put them in my own buckets.
Rice is rice and beans are beans. I used food grade silicone gel packets in each bag.
Don’t be a fool.

Oh, then why not buy food from the store like a normal person?
I do the bucket shit for long term storage.

If you intend to live on it for any length of time, this is sincerely the only viable option.

Not trying to be a dick but is there rice any different than what you get in the store? Isn't all rice dehydrated?

[ - ] Gowithit [op] 1 point 8 monthsAug 8, 2024 19:15:14 ago (+1/-0)

I just answered that below ha. I thought deal with free shipping and free bucket. Im just going to switch it out with another one and use this pos bucket for laundry powder.

Have you eaten their slop?
I can't imagine relying on that garbage.

[ - ] Gowithit [op] 1 point 8 monthsAug 8, 2024 19:12:31 ago (+1/-0)*

not yet but rice is rice. I looked through some of their other stuff but the only other thing I want(ed) from them is their bucket of hard white wheat.

I know hunger is hunger but I also know food exhaustion is real my only interest is raw ingredients, not ready to eat meals.I thought I was getting a deal with free delivery and free bucket. have you bought from them before? @questionable_2 is thinking about buying. Give a review.
