Ummm.... Ignore that... Today is Thursday...

It has been Friday in my head all day long. In fact, I've said 'Friday' today when talking to people.

Not one person corrected me. I even had a doctor's appointment! In my head, that was on Friday.

Man, I'm getting old...

I'll take care of some cars for you.

I blew a rod through the block on Wednesday. I need a replacement block for a '67 Mercedes 250SE.

The problem is that it's not all that highly collected. I think it's stunning and that the ride is effortless comfort that brings you back to an era long since lost to time. So, finding a replacement block is probably going to take some time.

I might have one.

Really?

There's a sixty something Mercedes behind my shop.

It's the 2.5 L inline 6. I'm optimistic but haven't yet started searching for replacements. I'm hoping that it was common among their lineup through that era.

This is the car in question:

It's an elegant beauty, or so I think. It's the kind of car you can drive with just a single finger on the wheel. It has 'enough' power for the kind of car it is. I'm not sure how much but it's under 200 HP and probably over 150 HP.

I wasn't even beating on it and I had great oil pressure.

Good lord, that's a beautiful machine.

It's a lovely example. I'll do my best to ensure that it gets the attention it needs. I'll start looking for a block next week, or have someone else do the leg work. The car is nice enough to live on, even though it's not all that prized on the collector market.

My butt-dyno is pretty good. I looked it up and they make a mere 170 HP. For a car like that, that's plenty.

Being outside of time is a wonderful feeling.

Retirement is pretty awesome.

Need to take that wind and appreciate it. Any day that has the energy of a Friday is a good one. You’re getting two Fridays this week.

Shit, sometimes there are Fridays that don’t even hit like a Friday because you’re so caught up in the work. So need to appreciate a good Friday that also hits like Friday always.

Absolutely. I feel a bit sorry for those who never get to truly retire.
