I just got back from a new customer. They need a dozen of extruders networked to their main hub. The Mrs has been holding down the fort quite well and the boys have been trying her abilities this entire past week/weekend.
I have not been away this long since the boys have been born, I don't like it. I just want the father's here who do go on extended trips often to know that my heart goes out to you and I admire your resolve.
Remember to give your wives time off and plow her proper if you can excuse the crass language lol!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. You can take a moment to appreciate how reflective this makes you. It serves to strengthen the bond you have with your family and surely drives you to be the best you can be.

I left one of the best jobs I ever had over travel.
Every time I'd get home, one of the kids would have achieved some important developmental milestones (first step, first word... that kind of thing) and all I'd have to show for it was a toddler sized City name T-shirt purchased from the airport.
Years later, I still miss that place and I never regretted the decision.
Used to call the wife and find out what they were having for dinner. Then scrounge up the same thing and skype call the family at their dinner time. Laptop at home was positioned on the table, at the end where I would normally sit, facing the kids, and we'd eat dinner and talk.
It wasn't perfect (there was some lag from AFG), but it was better than nothing and it gave us a chance to see each other and talk every day.
