So AMD and Intel are just absolutely shitting the bed trying to outdo each other?

When the government forces back doors into hardware, it's kinda hard to keep people from discovering them.

[ - ] Monica 1 point 8 monthsAug 14, 2024 10:25:16 ago (+1/-0)

They will open a new back door after they patch this one. It never ends.

No, just no. It's "colossal munge ejection".

"There is good news, though: since it has not been discovered for 18 years, it likely hasn't been used."

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

The vulnerability was put there on purpose.

Most likely by filthy kikes to let (((governments))) attack their citizens.

Is any hardware not compromised these days?

[ - ] oyveyo 0 points 8 monthsAug 13, 2024 20:34:14 ago (+0/-0)

Wax toilet bowl seals are still safe... for now.

[ - ] Dingo 4 points 8 monthsAug 13, 2024 12:58:13 ago (+4/-0)

Serious when I say this.

This is a ploy (intel, nvidia, and bios companies are also doing this) to have people:

1) Install niggerdom into their bios and kernel algorithms to lower the performance of thier microprocessors by lopping off chunks of it's functionality.

2) Since their processors just "don't cut it anymore" since that software update (another vector of telemetry causing resource hogging) so they upgrade to the newer intel/amd/nvidia/snapdragon/etc processor which is manufactured in israel with all the newest "instructions" only to out some of the flaws in a few years when they need you to upgrade again.

[ - ] __47__ 3 points 8 monthsAug 13, 2024 13:06:10 ago (+3/-0)

So in a very basic way they're putting PC gamers etc on a sort of subscription model based on failure rates and such?

[ - ] Dingo 1 point 8 monthsAug 13, 2024 19:54:48 ago (+1/-0)

Partly, but also to have you hobble your machine for them by believing in the exploits and adding the patches. A new processor will always seem snappy and often fixes the problem, but adds more "undocumented" layers that just some of the exploits get leaked. Basically, the newer the processor, the more back doors.

Second, as you say, they add more and more layers (or get you to install them) that wear out your microprocessors faster. Again, back to the upgrade, with all the new "instruction sets".

I remember Spectre years ago. I always disable those performance-damaging mitigations on my older machines.

[ - ] Dingo 1 point 8 monthsAug 13, 2024 19:56:33 ago (+1/-0)

Yeah. There have to be one a year since that. use "mitigations=off" on your bootup line and you can have 20-35% of your processor speed and performance back.

The backdoors are endless and you're best to play things safe by using a smart hosts file.

[ - ] RobertJHarsh 2 points 8 monthsAug 13, 2024 20:04:16 ago (+2/-0)

They argue that sophisticated state-sponsored hackers could already possess the means to exploit this vulnerability

CIA no doubt has used this exploit for years. They probably engineered it in at some point in the design process.

[ - ] GrayDragon 2 points 8 monthsAug 13, 2024 13:20:45 ago (+2/-0)

Your Intel propaganda means nothing to me. I'm going to buy another 10K stocks of AMD.

[ - ] DukeofRaul 0 points 8 monthsAug 13, 2024 13:24:18 ago (+0/-0)

What about solar flares gd?

[ - ] x0x7 0 points 8 monthsAug 13, 2024 22:46:35 ago (+0/-0)

I wonder if we will ever get mobos with multiple cpus/non-cpus, separating functionality to separate chips that are simple enough to not make these errors.

With the push toward everything being parallel there is a higher latency higher throughput model of having chips operate work queues.
