Someone gave me a bottle of something called john varvatos. Its good and stinky. My wife says I smell like dirt and cigarettes. Maybe she likes the smell of dirt and cigarettes.

The OG John Varvatos is the one I have and it is the best one IMO. It's a spicy leather scent. Special shoutout to Varvatos Artisan Pure, though.

Yeah, It is very good. I have smelled that and "By the Fireplace.", but not so much my thing. I would wear it if it was gifted, but I don't like it enough to buy it.

Just because it costs more money doesn't mean its better. Take this from a cologne/perfume collector since the 80's. I have a huge collection/boxes. I've made my own cologne and perfume, as well.

I don't have nearly as many fragrances as you do and I've been rockin' the Tom Ford myself lately.

May have told you this already and, when I first bought it, about 10 years ago, I didn't care much for it (this was a blind purchase, in case you were wondering).

Too "old man musky" for me.

Years later, found it in a drawer and decided to give it another try, whereupon I discovered that I had become "old man" enough to wear it by that point.

Thanks, but truth be told, my taste in cologne is pretty pedestrian, actually. It is better than the average joe, not nearly as sophisticated as the average person on Fragrantica or someone who does Tubes or streams about it. My nose is not that discerning and I’m much less emotionally and financially committed to it. It is a minor hobby.
