Its probably because the sun is going through an active cycle bombarding us with solar energy, we've lost at least 30% of the earths electromagnetic field in the last ten years. Probably a precursor to the pole shift. We're getting 30% more of what the suns putting out because the field acts as a shield. Mars lost its em field at some point in the past. This allowed the suns radiation to strip away its atmosphere.
