They seem to work for me about half of the time.

Often, I will only notice that someone attempted to ping me after I've already read the comment.

I keep checking for the envelope status. First will be comments, second would be either post replies or pings. I also check the tabs to verify I haven't missed anything.

It's strange for me. The pings show up but it will be 2-3hours after the post... even though I am logged in and actively posting.
