Look in the old books at historic pis/vids of major USA cities during the 1900-1930s.

Busy and somewhat chaotic, but always vibrant clean and mostly orderly.
Everyone had a purpose and a paying job if they were willing.
Those were hard times.

But there was something different missing. Can't seem to place it.
