Have seen some 'okay' movies, but the last good movie was LOTR.

Ejecting behind enemy lines just to hijack a F-14 and fly it out is dumb.

Top Gun was a movie that didn't need and should not have received a sequel.

If you want to see Tom Cruise fly around American Made was ok.

That movie wasn't bad. It was nice twist seeing the "redneck hicks" as the heroes and the liberal college kids as the intolerant, bigoted villains.

[ - ] anon 2052083 3 points 8 monthsAug 26, 2024 06:21:59 ago (+3/-0)

The one bad thing about us is that we aren't violent and evil. If we had intelligence (questionable) and violence we would be feared. If we were evil we would rout the jews and swing their children face first at walls in public so they know to never EVER come back around here again.

But yea, sure. The jew wants you to think you're a monster.

Godzilla Minus One was pretty good. No faggotry and it was almost more of a post-WWII drama that had a giant lizard thrown in it.

The Matrix.

First time around.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 1 point 8 monthsAug 26, 2024 11:38:44 ago (+1/-0)

I was thinking that or The Fifth Element, but that came out in '97. The Joker movie was decent, except for that whole black single mother love interest thing shoved in there.

LOTR movies were great though and they came out more recently than The Matrix.

So I guess it goes chronologically The Fifth Element, The Matrix, then LOTR.

yep. pretty much everything since has been a reboot, a reboot of a reboot, a reimagining, woke, or just plain fuckin shit.

considering half the special effects in it have been recycled ad nauseum ever since. you can use any words you like to describe it, but we all know time dilation when you fire a gun is always going to be called 'bullet time' and the first anyone ever thinks of when you mention it is neo.

Poseidon Adventure, saw the first in early 70's and the second was surprisingly decent. Don't recall when second was made but I think it qualifies as modern. Yeah it had a fag as I recall so yeah it's modern.

Brad Pitt in an action comedy...sufficient gore, was effective to have on in the background while lifting.

I just watched No Country for Old Men a few nights ago. It was good. Not perfect, but solid. I have a terrible time watching the vast majority of movies nowadays since I cannot stand propaganda or woke anything, but this one was mostly free of that. Older movie do tend to be better for these reasons.

It did feel a little propagandaish with the entire subtext of the White man slowly losing control of the country, but I let it slide cus it was believable.

It's message is really on point in a lot of ways. "You can't stop what's coming." The message not to start fucking around with the drug trade is correct. When the two sheriffs are speaking towards the end talking about the decay of society and community is exactly right.

Big fan of the Saw series, but only because I met Leigh Whannel a long time ago. If you're not into the torture series, that's fine. Saw got kinda stupid when Darren Lynn Bousman took over.

Trigger Warning just recently came out with Jessica Alba. A surprisingly okay movie with some decent characters, twists, and good character development. I don't really like the "women empowerment" bullshit, but she does lose a few fights, so it's close to being real enough.

Robert Downey Jr's first Sherlock Holmes movie was also pretty good. The second suffered a lot from slower pacing and a lack of Holmes being the centric perspective.

Last, Knives Out, the first one in the series with Daniel Craig. This one was great for a bunch of reasons that Cinema Wins covered in detail. Skip watching the Glass Onion, it was absolute crap. I've heard that the third movie coming out, Wake Up Dead Man, is supposed to be much more like the first, so we'll see if the next one is worth it.

I recommend most Toni Servillo films if you don't mind subtitles or Italians (a few are part English).

Id like to find more less focused on period pieces. One that comes to mind is Scorsese's Silence, about Portuguese missionaries in Japan... Guess it's catholic propaganda. Lol

The Deadpool movies. Yes they are full of DEI and fag jokes but Disney doesn't like them because they scored better in theaters as rated R films that the rest of the post-Endgame garbage shat out. Kevin Feige/FAGGY was basically forced into the third movie because they needed a win for the year to keep the shareholders happy.

There is also the story of Ryan Reynolds getting his way 100% and making sure Brie Larson wasn't allowed anywhere near the third film. FAGGY was not pleased and pushed hard for her to be in it.

[ - ] anon 2368304 3 points 8 monthsAug 26, 2024 04:26:21 ago (+3/-0)

No Top Gun Maverick was nostalgia bait to serve you up a new and diverse set of fighter pilots to replace all of the white men we liked from the original. It had a Star Wars like story that was even less believable than the fun first one, and had zero to do with the actual TopGun school. Sure it was better than all of the strong wamen of color movies that have come out recently, but it was still mid at best.
