MOZI (Mo Tse) c. 470 – c. 391 BCE

400 years before Christ, he lays down his famous principle of universal charity. 'Let every country treat other countries as its own, other families as his own, other people as himself!'
On the role of traditional religion: 'When everyone believes in the power of spirits (the Chinese have no God) to reward the good and punish the bad, there will be no misfortune.'

a) Religion/religio - "to bind anew"...that's about owning others, hence treating others as "owned"

b) "reward the good and punish the bad" implies a conflict of reason aka perpetual war among those owned.

c) Charity/carus/karo/ka - "desire" implies the temptation (want) to ignore resistance (need).

When everyone believes...

...then many believe what few suggest them to believe.

the Chinese have no God

China/cina/sino/sin - "transgression"...must be a coincidence.
