You have to understand these live tapings have very small audiences we're talking about less than 50 people. Most of them are special invited guests of friends of the show. So they're number one not at all representative of america. But the more important thing is that the producers directors assistant directors Etc who are sitting right there on the stage are all micd ( they have microphones on them right in front of them) as members of audience and they automatically laugh out loud as an applaud the loudest to provide their own soundtrack. They knowing we do this.

They can do it so they don't have to say that they're using a laugh track they can say it's a live studio audience. Yeah it is but it's the director of the assistant director and the script supervisor etc etc we're applauding the loudest and making the sounds that you mostly hear when you're watching the show.


Now they do have microphones suspended over the audience that are sitting on bleachers but like I said it's usually a very small audience probably 50 people and almost all of them are going to be friends of the show and there's going to be a guy in front of them telling them when to laugh and applaud.

That's the way all these talk shows are run. And sometimes they even hire audiences as paid people that they pay 20 or 30 bucks a show for to go and sit in the audience.
