I used to think Linux was worth the trouble. It isn't. In fact, the development community of Linux and most of its distributions subscribe to the woke ideology and think us conservatives should die.

Anymore, life has become a choice between the lesser of two evils. If not Linux, then what? I hate to say it, but, a World without Linux would truly suck!

Imagine if your car needed that much tinkering around with it just to make it start so you could drive it.

They used to... Back in the day, Car maintenance required quite a bit of tinkering. Adjusting the carbs, setting your timing, changing points, plugs, cap and rotor, ballast resistor, etc... And, a lot of us did that ourselves at home in our driveways or garages if we were lucky enough to have them.

Being old enough to to have own numerous cars and having done quite a lot of that myself, I couldn't have been happier when fuel injection and better timing methods became available in newer cars. That's why Linux won't catch on, because when you have computers that "just work", tinkering with an OS will remain the equivalent of being a shadetree mechanic. I've done my time doing that shit and I'm done with it.

While maintenance, In both Linux and cars can be a hassle. There is something to be said for being able to "look under the hood" and understand how things work, and be able to control your own destiny in getting to fix something without having to default to some hack "professional". It is somewhat of a double-edged sword. Linux can be a pain in the ass, but I like looking under the hood, and knowing what's happening on MY system. It's a control issue. I can, to a point, dictate how Linux operates on my PC, I don't don't have to default to some globalist hack to use my computer.

That's the best defense of using Linux I've ever read. Nicely done. Most Linux users just be defensive and insulting. I actually agree with you, but I never had the knack to do it, and getting even simple stuff to work properly was beyond my ability.

LOL. Android: Linux. Steamdeck: Linux. ChromeOS: Linux. Gaining in the market every year. Wrong and stupid you are.

LOL. There's that defensive and insulting response I was talking about.

Yep, welcome to Upgoat. Where incorrect statements are corrected and you faggots don't have Reddit mods to run to for having your incorrect statements challenged.

You've never had to tweak the Registry Editor, to prevent the Windoz Desktop morphing into an advertising billboard?

I've used PC since the beginning but gradually getting sick of this shit.
